I have an earlier version of this model. The GL is unique looking because of its wheels, but it never wore a Ghia grille the IXO model does. I wish that there was some way to retrofit the correct grille. 1982 Ford Granada (Germany) P3 by Michael, on Flickr Ford Granada (1982) by Special C by Michael, on Flickr I wrote this about this model in 2015: Not a bad casting by IXO, but very confused as to which model of 1982 Granada it is. It carries a Ghia badge on the back deck and a modified Ghia grille on the front, but everything else about the model is GL spec. So it ends up being a car that never was. I knew this when I bought it from MCW, but the price was right and I have a diorama in mind that it would be otherwise perfect for.

If anyone asked me what my list of the top five most necessary 1:43 scale models still needed to tell the Ford story world wide are, the list will always include the Model Y. For a long time I thought that that there were no 1:43 scale models of the Model Y, but that isn't true. There are at least two white metal models. A "tudor" by Somerville and a "fordor" by a company known as Milestone and Cobweb. Ford Model Y by Somerville by Michael, on Flickr Ford Model Y by Milestone and Cobweb by Michael, on Flickr Today I copied these photos off of e-bay. Both are rare and more expensive than I can justify. Has anyone here had first hand experience with either of these models?

Mk I Capri Comparison between Minichamps, IXO, Vanguards and TraxMk I Ford Capri Comparison by Michael, on Flickr What ever the pros and cons of the Vanguards Mk I Capri, the fact that it is oversized is annoying. I think that the dimensions and details of the Minichamps are better than the IXO. One simply has to overlook the silly black pupil like headlight post. I think that the dimensions and details of the Minichamps are better than the IXO. One simply has to overlook the silly black pupil like headlight post. The Trax is quite nice. It emphasizes the width of the car and exaggerates the slight prow to the front end. A feature ignored by IXO. Mk I Ford Capri Comparison by Michael, on Flickr IXO, Minichamps and Trax. All nice in their own way.

Mk I Ford Capri Comparison by Michael, on Flickr Final thoughts. Although the IXO isn't quite as good as the Minichamps, if you want a 1970 2300 GT XLR, IXO is your only option and because of my age, that model in that level of trim was the Capri that I bonded with first as a 11 year old. Ford Capri 2300 GT XLR, 1970 (Belgium) by Michael, on Flickr As annoying as the bulk of the Vanguards Mk I is, if you want a British spec Mk I Capri there is no other choice and for that reason, there is still room in my collection for an early 3-liter version. Form my Year by Year series -- this one of Fords manufactured or assembled in Europe. Ford in Europe Year by Year - Vertical Grid by Michael, on Flickr The concept is to select one model per model year for a defined region. In this line up of European models I have a Ford model for every model year from 1912 to current, except 1915-16, 1917-19, 1920-23 (basically all of the 1917-1925 Model Ts are interchangeable), 1926-27, 1930, 1934, 1941-45, and 2019 to current. Ford in Europe Year by Year - Vertical Grid by Michael, on Flickr The inclusion of American Fords like this 1948 model is correct as US Ford were assembled at several European plants up to the mid 1960s.
