I have that set too, I like it especially as Brands Hatch was my local race track.

RS 1800 from Minichamps by Michael, on Flickr I'm not that big of a fan of Vanguards' version of the Mk II RS 2000, but his is a rare X-Series and I'm a sucker for that German RS Ford Tri-Blue graphic. I do wish the stance was a bit lower. Ford Escort RS 2000 X Series by Vanguards by Michael, on Flickr RS 2000s from Trofeu and Vanguards. My local Ford Dealer had a dark green Zephyr 4 as his launch car. For a week prior to launch it sat under a white sheet on a turntable looking all mysterious. On reveal I was so disappointed hoping it would be a 6 or a Zodiac.. but our town was small and working class population. Being a big car at that time and poverty spec it eventually became the Dealer demo car and then a garage owned Taxi. I at least was able to pick up the brochures for the Zephyr (4 and 6) and the separate one for the Zodiac. Eventually one of my work colleagues bought the demo car and ran it for many years.
I still have those brochures and continued my 'raids' on their brochure display racks.
Keeping up with Cortina changes was fun, then Capri, even more fun. I eventually bought two three second hand cars then two new Capris from the Ford garage so they did ok out of my early curiosity!
Our nearest Ford RS (Rally Sport) Dealer was eight miles away and was a 'honeypot' for my brochures on Lotus Cortina, Escort RS, etc. Vince Woodman the owner was a racer of renown and even had Ron Fry's GT40 in the showroom on one occasion when I dropped by! Your selection of 1:43 RS models above echo exactly what I went to see in 1:1!
Oh how I miss those brochure collecting days. I imagine foot fall in dealerships has dropped dramatically now they've taken away this reason for visiting garages/dealerships.A cursory "It's all on the internet sir" is the order of the day for any enquiry.
A good friend of mine has been trying to buy a second hand car, has the cash 10-12k, studied all the specs, has no px and rang a dealer to try to arrange a viewing only to be told they're too busy! They deserve to go bust when a genuine prospect with money in hand gets that kind of treatment.
Apologies to Michael for this slight diversion into the world of Ford brochures. One last word - when I was in San Francisco on 2005 I couldn't resist dropping into the local Ford dealership and picking up brochures for the '05 T-Bird and Mustangs. Full marks too to the salesman who said how easy it would be to order a T-Bird and have it exported to the UK. Tempting, but my wife (back in UK) might have had something to say about unauthorised expenditure....!

X2 on both counts...I used to get such a rush expecting the new brochures every fall. It really was a fun ritual and I did so from about age 8 until the early millennium. Sure miss that
As far as buying, I'm in a similar situation to your friend. In this case, I think they would gladly take my money but I certainly don't want what they have or at their asking prices. With rate hikes (not affected here as a cash purchase) I'm hoping the demand and prices drop by the time I have a real need. Last 2.5 years of inflation, covid etc seems to have changed everything for the worse

Don't forget the supply chain problem. Dealers have hiked up prices for anything they can get knowing there are customers waiting despite the ridiculous prices.

Don't forget the supply chain problem. Dealers have hiked up prices for anything they can get knowing there are customers waiting despite the ridiculous prices. Tom, the cynical side of my brain is starting to think the 'supply chain' might be a convenient excuse for every product or service with even an inkling of demand. Granted, there was a 'chip shortage' for new vehicle production but that chain issue would have absolutely nothing to do with just about every other product that's soared in price.
This is 'election' day in the US and the finger pointing is at record levels. Really don't think anyone is telling the truth...
But, at the end of the day the consumer does have the last word, now if the world could have smarter consumers or at least a few with just a little bit of restraint and patience
