Thanks Chaps. Now a question for you all, given my obsession for detail, what is the purpose of this recessed feature behind the wheel? On all the models and photos I’ve seen this recess has no internal apertures! Is it allowing for brake cooling? Answers on a postcard, I want to improve this excellent Bang model.

Those were actually vents for ducting heat away from the rear tires and brakes. They should be open as in this image. Some of the cars had louvered covers On the British Racing Partnership 250 GTO like yours, the scoops were open. You can just see the vent in the leading edge of the scoop in this image.
