Wow! is all I can say. As a child growing up in the early-mid 1950s this lot of Dinkys, Corgis and Spot on models would have only been in my dreams. Christmas and Birthdays only and the consolation of the annual Dinky Toys catalogue kept me in check for the rest of those years. Visits to a couple of friends whose parents were better off than mine would have been my only opportunity of seeing stuff like the Dinky VW Beetle...

Wow! is all I can say. Thank you. I was born in October 1954 and apparently, according to my late mother, my third word after mum, dad, was car. And so the seeds were sown. We were a working class family with three kids (I'm the eldest) so money was I guess tight but my parents did their best and we received nice presents. I can remember some, others I still have like my Corgi car transporter and six cars, the Lotus racing set etc. Others were wrecked or went missing. Sometimes mum would come home with something new for all three of us, I can remember her giving me a Corgi Rover 2000TC with 'Golden Jacks' wheels that you could remove, I still have it. Other times if we went shopping I would always hope, like all kids, that we would go into a toy shop. My older cousin was an only child and I used to like visiting as he had some lovely toy cars that he kept in good condition, sadly my aunt decided to give them away to an overseas charity despite knowing that I wanted them. I thought that was a bit cruel, I even offered to buy them but to no avail. Tomorrow I am off to my local toyfair to see what I can find, I already have two old models put aside for me.
