This is like a family reunion where you haven't seen some of those relatives in a long time. It's really great to see everyone making their way here. Welcome!

Thanks for keeping the forum active. It is very important for collectors!
mainly from countries like Brazil, where 1/43 scale is not so popular.
Success!

For anyone who might be interested I've got a shell script that can use wget to archive the entire old Scale143.com site so the content won't be lost forever when the site goes dark. I tested it and it works like a charm (I ran it for about two hours). The command is "wget -r -p -U Mozilla www.scale143.com" (without the quotes). Linux users should have wget preinstalled on their systems. Just open a terminal and copy/paste the command then hit enter. For Windows 10 users there is a guide for installing and using wget: For Mac users it's here: The script will be the same. Again just copy/paste and hit enter.
The process may take several hours (or days) and it may seem a bit cryptic, but all of the content on the site will be intact, page by page. After it is all downloaded you may need to play with it a bit to get the links to point to the downloaded pages rather than the original site. If so let me know and I'll try to help. That's a great suggestion Alex. Is this similar to what was mentioned last year for the late Gary's threads? I am no where near this technical, but you have piqued my interest. Have you any idea what sort of local storage space the entire site might require when archived?

Hey everyone!
More than a decade on S143 can't end just like that...
So glad to see a new forum pop up. While I wasn't the most active poster on the old site, I still visited several times weekly. Happy to see all the familiar names here.
Andrew

I came over just a over a week ago and at first wondered how a free site could function. It’s now obvious that it is funded by the background advertising. I have no problem whatsoever with that since it is not intrusive nor offensive. So well done Jeff and your colleagues for finding this happy solution.

Yeap, Took about a week before the ads popped up. My biggest add is the sane one each time so easy to ignore 😆

If it's ads with a forum or no forum at all, I'll happily take the ads.

Thanks to you both. I think most will agree with this pragmatic solution.

I saw this morning that the ads have arrived. Part of the deal. We can make them go away for a fee, I would rather not start down that road again though. Lets see how things go and how intrusive they get.

So far they're not nearly as intrusive as on most sites. I hardly notice them.
