Lovely set of De Tomaso models, I really should get some road versions as the only ones I have are either old Corgi/Dinky/Solido Mangustas or racing Panteras.

If you're into Mr. Alejandro's work, you would love them Paul. I do enjoy contrasting the vintage models of the 1960s-70s with the more modern builds from Spark, PMA etc. Both approaches have their charms and tell different stories of our hobby.

I bought the Corgi Mangusta new, I remember going into a local shop on our housing estate that had a few toys and there it was, luckily I had some money which was not normally the case so it came home with me. It is still in very good condition with only the roof aerial missing, even have the box which is a bit worn now. Whilst visiting the US on holiday back in 1983 I was given a ride in a Pantera by a guy in the street rod club, that was pretty special.

What a lovely story Paul! Very special to still have models/cars/books and memories from earlier times that we can relate to the present. That's one thing I love about sharing on this forum.
I'd bet you can still remember/hear that 351 Cleveland rumble 40 years on? I've never been so lucky to ride in a Pantera...may never happen, but that's fine too, just love looking at them and learning their history.

So, ignore what looks like a few paint defects, its an optical illusion of metallic dark blue paint under bright lights as i've inspected it close up with my reading glasses AND a magnifying glass (a sure sign of old age catching up on me). Shown previously by another forum member but in a different colour, the Peako Models De Tomaso P72. As much as i'd have liked the metallic red car, the gold wheels and accessories were a bit too flash for me.

I prefer this too. Looks great! Nah, mine is better! You can't go wrong with any colour on this car though - it's an absolute beauty.
