Apologies to Jerry for slight deviation from your thread. This fabulous diorama has triggered an enduring memory for me of witnessing the finish of the Circuit of Ireland Rally Easter 1977 when the late Russell Brookes won the trophy in his Ford Escort RS1800 under the 'Andrews Heat for Hire' sponsorship. I was on secondment to our company office in NI and the opportunity to see the end of the Rally stages and prize giving was too good to miss.

Great memories Jerry. I marshalled at Rally Australia in the late 1990's, but I don't think Tommi Makinen's winning Mitsubishi Lancer had the same appeal as that Rothmans Porsche 911.

You must have been very "groggy-headed" to chase this one and not an Escort Jerry , but I can see the appeal.

As good a reason as any. Fab model, love your diorama. You don't do things by halves, do you? Thanks Tom. I don't have any idea what you mean. 😁 Stunning model. That deserves a bravo. Thanks! Like you it took close to a year to get the completed model done by GPM. For me it was worth the wait. Apologies to Jerry for slight deviation from your thread. No worries mate, love to hear about others memories and experiences. I wish I had a greater appreciation for what was taking place at the time and have done the same. Great memories Jerry. That must have been exciting. Martin would probably prefer the Lancer, but for many of us the Porsche would get the attention. 😆 You must have been very "groggy-headed" to chase this one and not an Escort Jerry , but I can see the appeal. Hmm... let's see, Porsche or Ford. Not enough Guinness in Ireland to make change my choice. 😁

Luigi's Berlinetta - I thought I might have seen this model on the Forum before, but a quick search didn't turn it up. Its a Ferrari I have been interested in for a long time, but didn't feel strongly enough to acquire this older release it until it came on sale recently. Not that it isn't an interesting car, or model. This car was the catalyst for mid-engine road cars from Ferrari and for that reason it is important in any Ferrari production car collection. It also set the style for the production Dino, perhaps one of my favorite production Ferrari's. What took me so long? 1966 Ferrari 365 P Berlinetta Speciale - Bee Bop (Tron)
Pininfarina designed this aluminum bodied mid-engined car for Ferrari in 1966, based on the 365/P@ race car chassis. It was the first mid-engine Ferrari road car and featured three abreast seating with the driver in the middle. Two cars were built, powered by the Colombo designed 4.4L V12 racing engine and put out 375 HP, giving the car a maximum speed of 152 MPH. The car is loosely styled on the Dino 206 and later influenced the Dino 246 road car. Of the two cars built, this car (Ch. #8971) was introduced at the Paris Motor Show. Finished in Gardenia White, this car made the major car show circuit before being sold in 1967 to Luigi Chinetti. The car stayed in the Chinetti family until 2014. The second car was built to special order by the head of Fiat at the time, Gianni Agnelli. It was finished in a metallic gray. These mid-engined cars were a major step forward for Ferrari. The Dino 206 whose inspired the mid-engine layout and styling and the Dino 246 which was a direct mid-engine and styling descendent from the 365 P.

I agree that this is a very interesting car and an important piece of the puzzle for Ferrari. It's also very attractive and a nice model. If this is ever offered to me in a trade, it'll be a 'yes'.

I would also be happy to acquire one of these at a good price. I do like the older Tron Bee Bop models.

Very nice Jerry. Surely that has to be on the radar of someone like Matrix, Kess or Autocult, but until then, you have something very unique.

What a nice, numberless addition Jerry. The 206/246 are also one of my favorite Ferraris and this helps illustrate its evolution. Also always a plus for me to see a 'rougeless' car from Modena
