I've taken the plunge and await the delivery 'some time in the New Year' of the Bertone book in this series. I note your comments about the Giugiaro being the best of the series.

I've taken the plunge and await the delivery 'some time in the New Year' of the Bertone book in this series. I note your comments about the Giugiaro being the best of the series. Ian, hope you got it at a decent price. Not long ago you could pick them up for £20 - £25, now prices are soaring close to the cover price of £48. The Giugiaro is now as rare as hens teeth. I was lucky with mine I got from a bookseller on eBay for £28 used. After a long delay through the complaints procedure for non arrival with 3 weeks since purchase (48 hr. delivery) a sealed brand new one turned up!

I've just finished reading a biography on Virgil Exner published by Veloce. He will be remembered most for Studebakers then Chrysler and Ford. I'd hoped for rather more images from the 1960 'fins' era. A good read. I can now return the book to a friend's large library of motoring titles.

Very nice too! Martin does a thorough job. Good bloke. I've contributed some pics to other books he's written.

Having been around at the time (1964) when the Americans brought drag racing to Britain I enjoyed watching Don Garlits take his 'Swamp Rat' AA Fueler Dragsterto close on 200 mph in 8 seconds down the quarter mile at Blackbushe Airport, near Camberley, UK. The sound and spectacle of this and other American dragster demo cars and runs left a lasting impression on me. Although the book's author gives brief mention to jet air travel as it's 'passive' I couldn't help but be impressed by personally seeing 1,380 mph Mach 2 on the 'in cabin' speedometer as I travelled aboard Concorde at 55,000 feet above the Atlantic Ocean on my way to London from New York in 2003 just before Concorde services ceased forever. Also in 2014 being whisked up Prescott Speed Hillclimb aboard a Bugatti Veyron SS WRC by the factory test driver. That too was unforgettable not just for the brief run but for several hours afterwards I was buzzing!!
I ordered the book from my local Library, and after I'd read it a pal has now got the book out on loan to read and enjoy.
Thank you MG David for bringing the book to my attention.

If Julio hasn't got it, he needs it! It’s one of my most recent additions, David! I liked it so much that another book by Mr. Taylor is on its way to Mexico, from a UK seller. Take a look at one of my book threads!
