Let's resurrect this one. it's a quote and the model that goes with it. I'll get us started:
“We’re far from having too much horsepower…my definition of too much horsepower is when all four wheels are spinning in every gear.” - Mark Donohue

"You're a pack of arseholes." Jim Richards to the crowd after he was booed on the podium as the winner of the Bathurst 1000 in 1992. He crashed his Nissan in the rain, which brought out the red flag, but he was still awarded the race win because results were decided at the start of the lap the red flag was shown and the pro-Ford and Holden crowd didn't like it.

Thanks Ian, you've given me a giggle with that memory.
For the record, Tricky Dicky should have won that race!!!

On the opening lap of the 1958 Indy 500 a foolish gamble by Ed Elisian caused a chain reaction of violence which killed the personable and wonderfully gifted driver Pat O'Connor, sent Rookie Jerry Unser over the low concrete guard wall and removed 13 cars from effective competition before the race was one lap old. "He went into the turn 50 mph over his head" - Dick Rathmann "I had Elisian missed" - Jimmy Reese (Bob Veith's car struck his from behind) "Maybe I did haul Rathmann down into the corner too hard." - Ed Elisian

Moonshiners put more time, energy, thought, and love into their cars than any racer ever will. Lose on the track, and you go home. Lose with a load of whiskey, and you go to jail.
— Junior Johnson, NASCAR legend, and one time whiskey runner

Mario Andretti... " This mechanic changes the front pads and puts them in backwards. And the discs are cracked. I come out of the pits, go over the rise, start my braking for the Esses – and it takes the wheel right out of my hands! The car had been refuelled – 80 gallons – and it was so heavy you couldn’t even lock the wheels. We just turned sharp right, straight into the bank. Big accident."
