This is a recent addition to my shelves, and older book but one that I am very much enjoying. Rather than it just being another "and then this happened, and then that happened, which led to this happening" story, each chapter is about one of the people that has shaped Alfa Romeo over the years (up to the 1980s anyway as it was released in 1990). From the early days of Giuseppe Meroni and Nicola Romeo, through Vittorio Jano and up to Rudolf Hruska, you get some information on their personal life and story, along with their Alfa career.

I remember reading that in the 1990's Martin. The history it describes was probably one of the things that really drew me to the brand. Seven Alfa's later, you could sat it was the most expensive book I ever bought .

Interesting Martin as I came across this book on Oxfam web site the other day and wondered if it was a this is happening, which is making this happen book!😃
Think I best go back and place an order for it from what you say about it.

Interesting looking book with one of my favourite cars on its cover! Mr Borgeson is an excellent writer so that guarantees a good read!

Just finished reading this book this morning. Realeased at the end of 2018, so before Kimi went to Alfa Romeo and then into retirement from F1, it is an interesting read. Written by someone with no association to motorsport, it is a very different driver biography. The writer concentrates much more on Kimi’s life away from the track while getting insights into how he operates. Not surprisingly, the F1 Kimi is very different than the private Kimi. There are many snippets of information to be had, especially around press conferences held in the throes of a hangover. Also, it will be no great surprise that as a child Kimi didn’t speak until he was 3 years old! Would I recommend it? If you’re a Kimi fan (as I very much am) then yes, not sure if a general motorsport fan would be enthralled all the way through. A bit more racing (and rallying) content would have been nice.

I've just finished reading this book on the Lancia Delta integrale. With Alfa Romeo not having much of a rallying presence through the years, Lancia (and Fiat) have been my go-to in that branch of the sport - they are also increasingly popping up in my 1:43 collection. I therefore thought it was time to get a bit of knowledge on these cars. This is the 4th book by Peter Collins that I have bought, all on Italian racers. I find his books are easy to read and he is very knowledgable. This book delves into the road cars but spends most of its time on the rally versions. This is apt, as the later road cars were built specifically to homologate the rally cars - they were more important than the more basic road-going deltas by that stage.

Nice! Sounds quite interesting!
I’ve bought quite a few books by that publisher lately.

My most recent book purchase was inspired by Julio's mega-collection. I wasn't aware of this book, but was able to find one locally for a good price - complete with the author's signature! The book dates from 1976 and is a very good picture reference for Alfa Romeo, primarily the cars up to the end of the 1950s. There are very few words, other than the captions, which each chapter have just one page of writing followed by 30+ pages of black and white photos, most of them period. The author doesn't try to solve any mysteries but does offer some comments on the oder cars. A great reference book - highly recommended. Thanks for the inspiration Julio.
