I’d love one of those to display one of my old VWs on it!

That is definitely a must have for you - and a nice combo with the Polo.

I am always on board for a working truck, this one is surely ready to work.

Thanks Jerry. It's one of my favourite categories of vehicles but unfortunately uncommon in 1:43. Luckily, I now have three in my Volkswagen collection. I’d love one of those to display one of my old VWs on it! I hope you can find one locally Julio, mine wasn't even expensive (<EUR 15). That is definitely a must have for you - and a nice combo with the Polo. Lupo. It's a very nicely made model, ďefinitely one of the better PW models. I am always on board for a working truck, this one is surely ready to work. It is Jeff, and being a recovery truck it makes for a great addition to any diorama.

Very nice livery on that one! Interesting to see a C5 racing several years after the C6 was released...but perhaps not unusual as I don't really understand much about the racing world

That livery really puts this Vette over the top.

I like the Corvette, nothing to do with me being a Chevy owner obviously! All these PW collections though, we don't get them in the UK sadly.

Very nice livery on that one! Interesting to see a C5 racing several years after the C6 was released...but perhaps not unusual as I don't really understand much about the racing world I think the less financially strong teams use older cars, perhaps buying them used off other teams. This shows that good drivers and properly developed cars can even beat the latest and greatest. That livery really puts this Vette over the top. Cool looking livery! Thanks! For some reason it reminds me of a sneaker... it was what attracted me in the first place too. I like the Corvette, nothing to do with me being a Chevy owner obviously! All these PW collections though, we don't get them in the UK sadly. Neither do we, Paul. I don't think we've had a PW series here over the last 10+ years. Luckily the global marketplace has given us lots of remaindered cheapies.

I've always liked the rugged no-nonsense approach taken by Skoda and their rear-engined models were among the most reliable cars available in the late 1970s and early ‘80’s, although by that time the rear-engined setup was considered archaic. Their cars were sold at very low prices undercutting even a 2CV, which was an undervaluation of the car's build quality. It might’ve been an old concept that hadn’t seen much development since its introduction (no need for that in a plan economy) but it was still very solid and over-engineered. Among the clever ideas was a split in the plastic bumper covers and the grill so that accident damage could be fixed by replacing just half of a grill or bumper. The bumper halves weren’t handed and might’ve even been interchangeable between front and rear. By the 1980s several tarted-up models were introduced to rekindle the car’s popularity which worked to some extent. The coupé version was also quite successful. Thanks to IST, the Eastern European-centred model range made by PCT, we have several Skodas from the pre-Volkswagen era, which ended up being duplicated in different partwork ranges. Alas IST didn’t make any of the versions so characteristic for the 1980s with their standard alloy wheels and vinyl roof, which came at a very low price and managed to transform the rather austere looks successfully. I was very happy when I was offered this 1980s 120LS, which is quite representative for the era. I hoped IST would eventually get around to making these but new issues in that line seem to be mostly variations on models already made. This was made by Retro Line, a new name to me, and judging by the box it was made by or for Czech model retailer Fox Toys. It seems to be very well-made and appears on a par with the better Ixo releases Retro Line – Skoda 120LS

That is really wild Tom! Sort of like Skoda meets 1980s Buick Century! Love the 'garish' detail on such an otherwise humble car.

One of the many cars in your collection that simply would not work in the US.

Right, now it'll get a little confusing. I want to move over some of my thread from the old place so I can keep using it as a reference. To distinguish the old from the new I'll be posting the text from my old models in italics. This will be resumed with more models soon and no, I haven’t added hundreds of models to my collection today. Minichamps Volkswagen Polo And here's more from the latest batch. The first couple are all from a 'Polish cars' PW. They're a great way to add models you like but aren't ready to pay Whitebox prices for.
First: the Fiat 128 3P, a car I've liked for some time. It may need a little detailing but it's the perfect colour for me Then there's the mid-1970s Opel Rekord. White wasn't too common on these and it's a cheap model so I'm toying with the idea of giving it a respray. Maybe in metallic brown or gold with a vinyl roof, popular combos here for that car. If I'm not going to repaint it I will give it a red interior which was a common choice with white paint. It looks good for a cheap model, but I would've liked chrome instead of silver wheel trimsIts competitor from Ford, but a few years younger: the Taunus. Another very popular car here but I cannot recall seeing a white one ever. This needs more detailing, the wheels require toning down and the window surrounds are too noticeable. Popular colour choices at the time were pale metallic green or metallic beige, both with a vinyl roof. This one is a prime candidate for a repaintThis goes for the award for cutest of the bunch. A tiny TrabantI liked this when I first saw it but never found it at a good price. This swap made it 'affordable', and I'm pretty happy with it. An Opel-based Bitter SCLast one of the batch has been the victim of online shopping tally shock many times, but now that it's here I'm really happy with it. The Citroen Ami with its reverse-rake rear window was an odd design I like a lot. This one was made by Ixo/Altaya and it's well detailed and made
And I need to make room in my displays, so the 1960s Dinky and Norev are replacedIn the 1970s I spent many an hour staring at magazine pictures of this car. The shape had something for me, it was low and sleek. However, it took until the 1980s for me to consciously see one for real. During a boring physics lesson I was -as usual- staring out of the window and there it was, a JPS-liveried Lotus Europa! I loved the JPS colours anyway and this rare car mesmerised me. I wanted a model and the Cararamas kept coming up around me, but never in the right colour. Then I met with an acquaintance at the diecast fair/swapmeet yesterday. He'd been offered a job lot of -mostly unboxed- models but was interested in sharing them because he only wanted the competition cars. I saw several models that I wanted, but this beautiful Kyosho Lotus Europa JPS was the cherry
It's perfect for me, just like the car I saw in Utrecht in the 1980s. Shape is spot on too. Next, and from the same job lot is a model distributed in a PW by DeAgostini. I'm not an expert but it looks good to me and I think it's the best looking generation. I recall seeing it on TV as a kid, maybe used in a TV series or a movie? The windscreen is slightly fogged, will experiment with some toothpaste to clean it up. Oh, and it's tiny.
DeAgostini - Lotus Seven Another part of the unboxed job lot, coincidentally another British classic. This is an older model and somewhat crude compared to today's Spark masterpieces. Perhaps one of those will replace this eventually, but it looks a lot better in the display than in the pictures which brutally highlight al its shortcomings. I'd also prefer it to be metallic green, but it was there and I liked it enough to buy it.
Vitesse - Aston Martin DB4 GT ZagatoFirst up is my favourite 911 generation and favourite version after the coupé. Porsche's revival version of the old 356 Speedster must qualify as the most impractical 911 ever.
Minichamps - Porsche 911 Speedster
...and it was supposed to replace this HighSpeed, which turned out to be the even more bonkers single-seater version so it won't be replaced. Besides, the single MC in between a couple of shelves of HighSpeeds will look somewhat out of place. Second part of the package deal is a model I've had on my wish list for a long time, and it moved up considerably when I encountered the real thing recently. Spark's version is more detailed but this was there, really attractively priced and it's the right colour. This has joined the D-type on my coffee table- I love it
