I concur with Brooks, when you're this experienced it must be a therapeutic hobby. The only 'building' I do nowadays is repairing damaged models and with so little time it’s far from destressing. Really enjoying the step-by-step!

Andy, this is every bit as interesting as expected! I actually NEVER have built an aircraft model and you're so lucky to have experienced it with your Dad Your techniques all show sound logic and patience, something I certainly didn't have as a kid on the few car models I tackled Would be fun to have an estimate of time at the bench for a model such as this? Perhaps you have an idea? Whatever the number, it's well spent as this looks extremely peaceful and relaxing in a 2022 world! Looking forward to more... Very glad you are enjoying it, Brooks. I'm actually hoping to repeat that experience as I'm trying to persuade him to take the hobby back up again. Here's hoping
Rest assured I never had this patience back then either, nor any wisdom for that matter
Drying time elongates the actual time as I tend to wait overnight before masking the previous sprayed colour, but I reckon bench time for this is probably no more than 3 or 4 hours split out over the best part of two weeks
More to follow

Pleased you are enjoying this
Most of the time it is. Less so with the less well engineered kits, but when it's a good kit it is very relaxing. You can just get lost in it I do not enjoy fixing damaged models at all, Tom. Using glue on painted parts can be an absolute nightmare
So back out of the booth with the black dry, ready for masking
Masked

Thank you Gentlemen
I left the silver to dry for 48 hours as metallics always need a longer curing time so here it is ready to mask

Are you airbrushing or rattle canning Andy?

Great to see what sequence you use to build up the camo. Mine were all from the 'can of Humbrol and a cheap brush' era, only my last kits were painted with aerosols.

Are you airbrushing or rattle canning Andy? Rattle cans Paul mainly from Tamiya. Great to see what sequence you use to build up the camo. Mine were all from the 'can of Humbrol and a cheap brush' era, only my last kits were painted with aerosols. Mine were painted the same way back then, Tom with a brushes and Humbrol enamels. Acrylics and aerosols I recall were things I started to use not long before I took a long break.
A little more progress
The brown is dry ready for masking
Using this
During application. It dries almost clear with only a sheen giving it's presence away
Green applied

Spraying all complete
Masking removed
There's a bit of bleed as you can see so a bit of tidying up required now before finals parts and then the decals
