Two thumbs up on both recent acquisitions! I am particularly drawn to the Brabham for its uniqueness factor, if for no other reason. That series hits another home run!

Pretty unique, but you can say that for all F1 cars of the era. That's what I like about them, it wasn’t yet a homogenous field of bloated nearly identical cars. What an excellent model. Used to be that F1 PW were bottom of the barrel, they're nowhere near that now! When I look back at the early models from this series Tom, the level of quality is a bit more patchy whereas the later ones are generally much better. Ohhhh yes I like that one Martin. Mind you I'm bias when Gordon Murray is involved. Considering he came to our UK shores from SA with nothing apart from good engineering practices, Bernie had a lot of confidence in him. Right up my ally this one. Obviously Paul, Mr Murray's peak came with the Brabham-Alfa fan-car (in my eyes at least ). That’s quite an odd and certainly interesting looking F1 car! Every time I look at it Julio, I like it a bit more. From the extra wing at the front to the jaunty angle of the airbox, it just keeps your interest. Not an expert at all on the subject, but it has a very distinctive look to it! Distinctive but at the same tome neat and clean Brooks. Another fine PW GP car. I would have seen most, if not all of the named drivers racing at some point back then in a variety of cars. It was a great era to be spectating in. There you go again Paul, causing me to go green with envy!! Living far away on the other side of the world has some benefits, but being able to pop out every weekend for some interesting racing is not one! Another cracking model. That series hits another home run! I'm guessing it is a cast off from a recent Brazilian F1 PW series Jerry, hence the choice of Fittipaldi over the #1 driver Retuemann. Super impressive for a PW. In reality Brooks, it is only the cockpit and some engine detail that let it down when compared to models costing 3-4 times the price.

The next two models have been shown recently by Will “Bert One”, and although it is very early in the year, they could be my models of 2024 – and they don’t even have numbers! When Matrix released their “Superflow 4” version of The Alfa Romeo 6C 3000 CM show car several years ago, concept/show cars were not on my collecting radar. I would still like one of the Matrix models and note they are planning on releasing some new ones later this year. In the meantime, when Kess announced they were doing also releasing a couple of these cars, they had to find their way to me. Having dominated Grand Prix racing from the start of the F1 World Championship era, Alfa Romeo withdrew their team after winning the 1950 and 1951 Titles. Their attention (and resources) were focussed on the new important 1900 model. In 1953 however, Alfa returned to international motor racing, this time in sports cars. The car to take Alfa back to the tracks was the 6C 3000 CM. Juan Manuel Fangio used one of these cars effectively, winning the Supercortemaggiore and finishing 2nd in the Mille Miglia in 1953. The cars did fail at Le Mans though. At the end of 1953 Alfa again withdrew from racing. They would continue to support privateers, but factory racing was abandoned due to financial requirements. Alfa had built six of the 6C 3000 CM cars in 1953, four coupes and two spiders. They kept one of the spiders and in 1955 released the other (chassis # 1361.00128) to Pinin Farina. Bertone had caught the eye of the motoring world with their series of stunning “BAT” concept cars, built on the platform of the Alfa Romeo 1900, at the 1953, 1954 and 1955 Turin Motor Shows. Pinin Farina, who were more well-known as producing elegant but more conservative designs, looked to hit back in 1956. The car they represented at the 1956 Turin Motor Show was the Superflow 1, built on the 6C 3000 CM chassis provided to them by Alfa. The car was presented in white with a deep blue stripe on each side. The rear featured the required period fins while at the front the wheels were partially exposed but covered by transparent plexiglass fenders that also covered the headlights. The interior was finished in blue leather and nestled under a chrome and glass canopy, which included a gullwing element for the top of the doors. The bottom of the doors opened in a conventional way. The Superflow’s mechanicals were pure 6C 3000 CM, with a straight-6 engine of 3,495cc giving 275hp at 6500rpm. A 5-speed gearbox transferred the power to the ground via a limited-slip differential. As stunning as the car was, it didn’t last in this configuration for very long – but that is a story for another day. I wasn't aware of the origin of these cars. Can't say I'm a fan of the front fender concept, but like the overall design. Bet you could boil pasta on the dash in the hot Italian sun. 😁 Nice add!

Lovely model, so very 50s with all the design, fins, transparent roof etc. Fabulous.
