I have sinned! At long last, after a couple of years wanting to get these models, I’ve finally done it. And, for the first time I’ve ordered them direct from the Oxford site! All Rolls-Royce, except for the last one… Phantom III 25/30 Silver Cloud (Hooper) Phantom V And this lovely Bentley model, which I already had but sold because of a flaw. Mk VI

Excellent choices Julio, looking forward to your impressions and your own pictures. I've yet to see a disappointing Oxford model.

I have a couple of those Julio and am pleased with them. Oxford are very good value for money, it's just a shame that they tend to ignore 1/43 models for some reason probably not unconnected with the founder of the company having decided that the scale is apparently dead.

Every one is just perfect for you Julio! Nice color choices too! My favorite would be the Hooper-bodied car, followed by the Phantom V.

I have a couple of those Julio and am pleased with them. Oxford are very good value for money, it's just a shame that they tend to ignore 1/43 models for some reason probably not unconnected with the founder of the company having decided that the scale is apparently dead. Thanks, Paul! They are indeed a great value for one’s money! Every one is just perfect for you Julio! Nice color choices too! My favorite would be the Hooper-bodied car, followed by the Phantom V. Thanks, BB! Those are also my favourite two, along with the Bentley that I’m so glad to have bought, again! Henry and Charles are smiling! Beautiful motorcars! Thanks, Jerry! I must say that precisely that Phantom V, with precisely that limousine body by James Young, is perhaps my favourite postwar Rolls-Royce! It’s so amazingly graceful! It's good that you have this Forum so that you can confess your "sins" to an understanding audience Thanks, God! It’s good to know we’re all notorious sinners!

Where did you hear that Oxford's founder has declared 1:43 dead? There does seem to be a move towards bigger and smaller scales from some manufacturers but 1:43 sill seems to be in a pretty healthy state with the likes of Autocult, Kess, Matrix, Spark and others still releasing new models at a steady rate.

There does seem to be a move towards bigger and smaller scales from some manufacturers but 1:43 sill seems to be in a pretty healthy state with the likes of Autocult, Kess, Matrix, Spark and others still releasing new models at a steady rate. It was from a friend of mine who sells models at toyfairs and was thus ordering from Oxford. He sent in an order and said that quite a lot of the models they make in the smaller scales would be most welcome if scaled up to 1/43. He got an email saying that 1/43 was dead so it was a no go to scale up their models. My friend replied that there were only so many vehicles one could fit onto a model railway and got quite a snotty reply saying that Oxford was a company for hobbyists and not collectors. Bearing in mind that my main hobbies are my two old cars and collecting model vehicles I was surprised that he cannot see that collecting is a hobby. Indeed the only magazine dedicated to models in the UK is called Diecast Collector and Oxford advertise in it so one can only wonder why the founder has a downer on models in 1/43 scale. They certainly appear to sell well in 1/43 when released.

Seems more of an emotional decision than businesslike.

Oxford Diecast was sold to Hornby in August last year, with Hornby buying out the 51% owned by its founder: "Hornby PLC, the international models and collectibles group, has announced that it has acquired the remaining 51% of the issued share capital of LCD Enterprises Limited from Lyndon Davies, CEO of the company, and his wife Catherine Davies, who together own this remaining stake."www.collectors-club-of-great-britain.co.uk/news/hornby-plc-acquire-oxford-diecast/This may see the company go in a different direction. Eg leave 1:43 to Corgi/Vanguards and have Oxford specialise in 1:72?
I've already noticed the number of new releases this year (in all scales) appears to have slowed considerably compared to previous years, though to be fair that could also be due to COVID. However Corgi aren't renowned for pumping out models quickly, so it will be interesting to see where this goes.
Your Rolls and Bentley look great Julio and I hope they produce many more for you.
