Greetings all, I thought I'd recycle a few of my old Photoshopped dioramas as a way of testing out how to post stuff here at our shiny new forum. First up, an old-fashioned peace conference from the good old Cold War days at Gleneagles in Scotland. The cars (as always) are my 1:43 models and the rest is from online sources. Next, Livvie and John bopping at the diner, while Marlon Brando looks on. And third in this initial test batch is marching band practice in the back streets of Rome.

A few more ... Some record setting Abarths outside a garage somewhere in Italy Scene outside a milk bar in Melbourne; the Valiant owner is Peter Sarsgaard and his lady friend is Carey Mulligan And in the 1950s the future looked like this. The Borgward Traumwagen owner is Jude law, and his lady friend is Charlize Theron. Lt. Uhura from Star Trek looks on from the high ground.

To finish a morning of posting some golden oldies, three more... Racing Peugeot 403 at speed at the first Armstrong 500 in 1960. I added Jack Brabham as a driver (the original pic was from him in a Cooper at Monaco) Mobile fruit and vegie seller in a village square in France. And another Valiant; a proud owner of his new Valiant hangs around outside his colourful fibro house in Sydney's western suburbs.

A few more from the archive ... A bit of Australiana this time. I colourised a black and white photo of the Golden Fleece Service Station in Auburn, Sydney, then added some Holdens, mum and a kid, and an old mechanic in blue overalls. Volvo car club outing in a Swedish autumn. Favourite Scandi Noir detectives Sarah Lund from 'The Killing' drives the first Volvo, and Kurt Wallander in the old Amazon. Another colourised black and white photo with the addition of an AutoArt FJ Holden and some people at the "Half Way House" a back-country fuel stop. A whole lot more colour this time, with two-toned Alfa and Borgward in Venice of all places. Being a cultural philistine, I removed the stupid canal from the original photo and added a proper road, plus various film stars. Last but not least of today's offerings, some on-water action in Italy, as Mr Lothario takes the ladies for a spin in his speedboat on the Italian Lakes. The speedboat is actually a plastic model of a Volga River WWII Russian attack boat, but I threw the machine guns overboard and turned it into my own Aqua Riva. Very proud of my home-made water with foamy wake, made from silicone sealer mostly.

OK, time for another batch of Golden Oldies from Ye Olde Forumm A French guy, Daniel Lardon, modifies basic French vehicles like this Peugeot J7 van and turns them into dioramas. I've bought a few and have added another layer, with a line-up of his "friterie" hot chips van waiting outside the Bondi Pavilion in Sydney for their yummy snack. My family car when I was a kid was a Mark V Jaguar (which my extravagant Dad bought when he couldn't really afford it, and then, over the next 10 years, learned the hard way that he definitely couldn't afford to actually run a Jaguar, so in the end he traded it in and bought a good old middle-class Holden FB!). For this dio, I combined my father's other great love, cricket, with the Jag. Gerard Depardieu and friends cruise around Antibes on the Riviera in their Panhard Dyna Juniors. The unseen workload with this diorama was me photoshopping out about 20 satellite dishes from the rooftops of Antibes, so I could maintain a proper 1950s vibe. Clark Gable's Deusenberg parked outside a cinema where his movie is showing. It was fun researching and finding suitable movie posters to drop into the frames on the theatre walls. More movie stars. That's the lovely Penelope Cruz waving bye-bye to (who else?) Javier Bardem, as he drops her off at the villa in his Pegaso. And finally, more movie stars, this time at Nice on the Riviera. That's Jean-Paul Belmondo in the Renault Floride, but the nice young lady in the bikini eating the ice-cream is actually from Coney Island. Not sure who the guy is with the Peugeot 404 cabriolet, not a movie star ...
