I will eventually have to decide between these two Claudia Hurtgen cars. The Escort is her 1994 DTT Championship winning car from near the start of her impressive career as highlighted in the screenshot below. The BMW came ten years later when she won the DMSB Production Championship. I am tempted to favour the Ford as it provides some relief amongst the numerous Germanic occupants of the cabinet. I can delay the decision but only until the cabinet nears capacity. Whilst Michelle Mouton is the most successful rally driver in the collection I would suggest that Claudia is the most successful race driver. Her record from 1991 to 2020 reads…. 399 races 37 wins (9.3%) 86 podiums (21.6%)

Shirley’s RailAlex and I have been discussing the paint to use on the car and it’s tricky given the paucity of period photos. We found this one. And Alex came up with this So that’s what we’re going with. Krylon Red Pepper. Sorted.

Yvette Fontaine This driver deserves serious consideration but the collection is nearly full so difficult decisions must be made (domestic situation precludes another cabinet). Sorry Stevie! Very tempted with this one which is on eBay etc. Advice welcomed.

Odette SikoFourth overall and 2 Litre class winner Le Mans 1932. Still the highest placed woman driver of all time. Alfa Romeo 6C 1750 SS. No exact models or kits available so the plan is to modify a Minichamps version with some bits from a cheaper PW model possibly. I have got some cycle wings spare from a SMTS Bugatti kit. Battery boxes to be built and the windscreen folded down ideally and lights adjusted. #18 decals to finish the picture. I’m hoping for some help from an old friend with this.
