Glad you like them gents. Three different favourites there - my pick would have to be the Vauxhall. The Mako is a bit overdone but is a cool model nicely done by Neo and not easy to find now. Slightly/quite a lot later 1990 Corvette concept, the Cerv 3 from 1990 by Alezan....

Oh boy, that’s very nice! Did anyone ever reproduce the mid eighties Corvette Indy? I’d love to have a model of that car! During my last term at Art Center we worked on ideas for its interior, guided by the same people who were in charge of the Indy; they were very pleased with our ideas! I even did some proposals for its exterior which still look pretty wild!

Nice GM concepts, I shall have to look out for them. I do have some old Tekno Corvair Monza GT models which are decent enough for their time and the Astro by Corgi. The XVR is great, what a lovely looking design it was. If I see the model I will be very tempted.

Alezan also did the mid 80's Indy and there's a built version available at the moment at Autoshow but it's 99 euros and doesn't look the best build. Did any of your proposals make it into/onto the final car? I still have the Corgi Astro, a childhood favourite but I would like a state of the art resin version. I was delighted when Autocult/Avenue 43 announced the XVR so jumped straight away - there are still quite a few on ebay......

That looks great, not a car that I was aware of!

Did any of your proposals make it into/onto the final car? No, unfortunately they didn’t! But, I clearly remember one occasion, during a midterm critique, when the GM people told us that most of our proposals were far fresher and more creative than the stuff their team was doing back at their studios. When the Indy was shown, a few months later, I loved its exterior but absolutely hated its interior, proof that our ideas were, indeed, far better!

Pictures show a very bland, typically 80's grey interior not up to the standards of the overall design. Strange as you expect concepts to be inspiring and challenging. I'm sure your proposals must have been better - any pics?

I'm sure your proposals must have been better - any pics? I’ve never taken pictures of those drawings but, I promise to take some photos soon and publish them here! I’ll also take photos of some of my exterior proposals and play with them using AI to see what happens! I remember that the Indy’s interior had very little to do with the fluid looking shapes of its beautiful exterior! It was quite a generic looking interior, unlike the very organic, curvaceous forms we chose for our proposals!

Already posted here by Andor88 and it was his posting that prompted me to change the colour of the one I was ordering to match his! Great model of an outrageous car... Peako De Tomaso P72 Another handbuilt model from the east.... A souvenir bought back from Thailand by son and his new wife and cunningly combining 2 of my favourite hobbies, collecting models cars and drinking beer. He knows me so well!

What Marcel said! Can’t keep the image of the Firebird III off of my mind! The beer bottle souvenir is really cute!

That fighter jet... err, De Tomaso looks so menacing! Now I want a beer.

I think I prefer the beer can-mobile to the slightly over the top De Tomaso. And I don't even drink beer nowadays.
