Fantastic turn of events for you, Tom. Hoping it all works out and that it brings you a better salary and a better way to spend your time.
Labor shortage is right, my wife got a call from her old employer asking if she could come in part time. She picks the days and hours she wants to work (she is only going to do 10-12 per week) and they are giving her a higher salary than she was making before.

Great news Tom. A role in an EV related startup would be right up your alley.

Tom..Is this in an electrical role as in running supply cables from switchboards to the EV socket/charger location or the sale of the charge unit to consumers? The previous building boom..fast rising house prices and plenty of trade related work has now declined. Mortgage interest rates, rents and pretty much every cost in life has increased..supplies of gib board (sheetrock, elephant board & plasterboard as you guys might know it as) have dried up and selling for a pretty penny on the secondhand market..due to the resident supplier monopoly of having 95% of the market.
Building companies are going bust left, right and centre and layoffs from the bigger players. Example my house if for sale would have gained me around $1.3mill NZwithin a month this time last year..current market be a squeak over $1mill and take months to sell as banks aren't lending and buyers stuck in the rent trap..the bank of mom&pop was pivital last 2 years getting their offspring into a house. Luckily most of my work is renovation or maintainence with very little new builds. Borders opening and kiwis are travelling..alot moving overseas outright as wages, houses, standard of living much better than here.

It's the charging hardware, the rest is up to the installer. We're still very much in a boom here, builders have their order books full for the next couple of years.

I've just received word that when the bank approves the business expansion my new job is in the pocket. Final decision should be toward the end of the month.

Good luck with your new job, way better than working in a call centre (not that I ever did so). Indeed I only ever worked at two companies during my 38 year 'career' working in the City of London which is of course the UK's financial centre. I have been retired for over 12 years now (I had to retire at 55 due to health issues) and have not missed the sheer drudgery of the commute, boring colleagues and office politics. Thus I hope you enjoy your new challenge!
