The Jag concept is a new one on me. Interesting.

I love it! If I could buy any model I want right now, this Jaguar would be one of those models! If Matrix continues to explore this theme I’ll wait (and save) for its Bertone Ramarro, one of my favourite concepts of the 80s!

Not a car I've seen before, but now that I have I do like it - very of its "wedgey" time. I'm voting for you to keep the gold one as it seems to suit 1977 better.

White would be my preference.I was around at the time it was launched and have the Style Auto book with the design analysis. Shape would have been more akin to Lambo than Jag though.

That sort of car design was everything of my dreams back then...give me some slack though, I was only 8 years old
I immediately thought Ferrari Rainbow and then you mentioned it from the year before. What a fitting addition to your Coachbuilt/concept Jaguar lineup!

I like the white best but am not the biggest fan of the wedge look.

Fantastic models! The yellow/green Ascot is the nicest, sets the model off best.

The Jag concept is a new one on me. Interesting. It is Paul and I'm not sure what advantage Bertone thought they would gain by it, other than using the then new XJ-S platform and V12 engine as beginning components. I think by that time it was pretty clear under British Leyland the budgets for much new car development was a pretty dry hole at Jaguar. Not that it didn't continue, but very slowly and pragmatically. I love it! If I could buy any model I want right now, this Jaguar would be one of those models! If Matrix continues to explore this theme I’ll wait (and save) for its Bertone Ramarro, one of my favourite concepts of the 80s! Glad you like it Julio! Matrix has been one of the best in offering up concept cars and I would think if licensing wasn't an issue, one based on the Corvette would be a good seller. With shipping to Mexico, I could probably make it available to you for the same of a bit less than the retail cost alone. PM me if interested. Not a car I've seen before, but now that I have I do like it - very of its "wedgey" time. I'm voting for you to keep the gold one as it seems to suit 1977 better. I'm leaning towards gold Martin, but I waffle. I have never been a big fan of wedge design, although some pretty nice cars have come from it. White would be my preference.I was around at the time it was launched and have the Style Auto book with the design analysis. Shape would have been more akin to Lambo than Jag though. I have just bought the Jaguar Design book Paul, which has been hugely discounted on Amazon and think some of these one-off concepts from styling houses will be covered as well. I first became aware of this car in 1978 when I first saw it in the 1977 World Cars book. It was from here that Bertone created the Lambo Espada. That sort of car design was everything of my dreams back then...give me some slack though, I was only 8 years old

Pretty lofty dreams for an eight-year old Brooks! I think at eight my dreams were for a new Stingray bike! This concept is a direct genesis from the Rainbow, so you are correct in your impression. I like the white best but am not the biggest fan of the wedge look. We are both in the wedge camp Jeff. I think the preference for color among the group is split. Looks like I will need to be the tie breaker. Fantastic models! The yellow/green Ascot is the nicest, sets the model off best. Thanks Tom!

However, at this time I’m not able to buy as many models as I would like to! Are you a model retailer?

Toyota Corolla Levin J - As much as Andy loves his Audi Quattro rally cars, I love the Toyota Corolla's from 1973-1975. Much of it comes from owning a street version back in the mid-70's, which taught me the art of car control and going fast on corners was more fun than in a straight line. I learned drifting before that was even a term. So, when Trofeu announce a new rally version of these cars, my order is in right away. Martin you will laugh, but this was Toyota's answer to the Alfa GTV. Interestingly, values for nice examples of either today are roughly the same. Toyota Corolla Levin J - 1974 RAC Rally - TrofeuToyota Team Europe (TTE) faced increased competition in 1974 from Lancia and Ford, while they introduced their new Celica to a full season of rallying. While the Celica would be Toyota’s rallying mainstay well into the 1990’s, the Corolla had proven that it could hold its own within its Group, winning the odd stage outright in the right conditions. In 1974, due to the oil crisis at the time, the WRC in its second season was shortened to eight events. The RAC Rally was the penultimate round in the season, one which Lancia with the Stratos had well in hand. In fact, Lancia would win the RAC.
However, dominate Lancia might have been, Toyota was not conceding without a fight. TTE entered two Celicas and two Corollas on the rally. This car driven by Ove Andersson with Arne Hertz navigating. The RAC was run over 84 stages and had 190 starters. Andersson/Hertz had won the 26th stage and were well placed before a broken axle dropped them from the rally. The second TTE Corolla finished in 4th place after also winning a stage. The Toyota Corolla rally cars were powered by a 1,6L 2TG DOHC engine, with a special Yamaha head and bored out to almost 2.0L gave 195 bhp.
The Celica in the middle was driven by one of my all-time favorites, Pat Moss-Carlsson. Need to find a model of that car!

I like your Toyota rally cars and the livery makes this one of the best, perhaps even the best. The amount of power extracted from a normally aspired engine is nothing short of amazing.

I remember when you got these, who could blame you for wanting these? Any pictures of your road car?

Great looking little car Jerry.
BTW - Spark have a nice Castrol Ford Transit van that would look great paired with this.

Ok, so I’ve managed to pick myself up off the floor and dried the tears of laughter, so let’s get back to the model. 🤣
Can’t say the car rocks my world as it does for you, we were fed a diet of Ford and Datsun rally cars in those days rather than Corollas, but I can’t deny it looks good in Castrol colours.

I remember when you got these, who could blame you for wanting these? Any pictures of your road car? This is the only photo I have Jeff after the ex tossed out photos of mine from 70 's and early 80's. Lost a lot or racing, rally, rugby and car show photos from the days before digital. 😔 This model is new to the collection, will take an updated group photo of all together when the next one arrives. 😁
