You're well on your way to the finish line here already... what a great idea! With such a huge field, I guess a group shot in starting order will be tough.

I think it's a splendid idea and something that I would like to do myself, not that I have as many models from the 1970 race. It would of course be much easier to show the finishers as there were only about seven officially classified with others finishing but not attaining their required distance. I never knew that the Corvette finished 5th and won the GT class (hooray) but was then not classified (boo). Then the ACO, a law unto themselves, sent Henri Greder a cheque equal to winning the GT class having belatedly realised that due to the rain it had had to slow its pace. Naturally being French they didn't change the result of the race.

This really appeals to the completist in me so I whole-heartedly support this endeavour. I often have the same thoughts but can never decide on which event/year to choose - it would have to be an Italian-heavy one of course.
I will be following this one with interest.

A group shot is beyond my talents I'm afraid Tom, but a great idea! If I get tired of the display (assuming I can collect them all) I could arrange by start position rather than where they finished. I shall keep that in mind! I think it's a splendid idea and something that I would like to do myself, not that I have as many models from the 1970 race. The Corvette story is another one of those partisan actions and decisions by the organizers. vie à la France An excellent project and rationale- go for it! Thanks Paul and I have! This really appeals to the completist in me so I whole-heartedly support this endeavour. I often have the same thoughts but can never decide on which event/year to choose - it would have to be an Italian-heavy one of course. I will be following this one with interest. If I were to select an Italian event, it would likely be the Targa Florio, although the number of entries is high. Just by sheer numbers the Mille Miglia is definitely out. Year as you say is hard. Castellotti's great victory in a Ferrari in 1956 perhaps? Maybe just stay with collecting the winners. The display case for the 1970 Le Mans entries was the first case to go up in the refinished garage. Now to fill it! For the eagle eyed. Yes, the third place finisher is the wrong model of Porsche, it has since been corrected.

Old Favorites - Very seldom does a modern F1 car find its way into my collection, but The Aston Martin AMR23 brought together a couple of old favorites, Fernando Alonso and Aston Martin. Starting out the season with podium finishes, by mid-season the early technical advantage Aston Martin seemed to have faded and there were rumors that the 42 year-old former World Champion might retire. So, when Spark announced this version of the AMR23, I decided that regardless of his F1 future, an Alonso car from the 2023 season was a warranted addition to my collection. Aston Martin AMR23 - 2023 Monaco Grand Prix, 2nd - SparkAston Martin announced the new AMR23 and it featured a new aggressive aero package which made it one of the most competitive car on the F1 grid behind the Red Bulls. Powered by a 740 BHP Mercedes-AMG 24 valve DOHC 1.6L turbo engine and engine recovery system, the AMR23 took Alonso to four podium finishes in the first five races. He would finish on the podium eight times in 2023, including a 2nd place finish at Monaco, Canada and Netherlands showing he was still capable of being a top F1 driver at age 42. The Monaco GP was the sixth race on the 2023 F1 calendar, run over its usual late May weekend. Aston Martin had introduced a new upgrade package for the race, and it improved the AMR23s pace. The qualifying sessions were led by Red Bulls Max Verstappen, with Fernando Alonso coming a very close second in the final session. Heavy rain in mid-race caused a number of accidents, tire changes and pitstop miscues, but the starting order up front remained the same. Verstappen won, followed by Alonso. 2023 would be the two-time World Champion’s best season since 2013.

Snap!! I've just posted an Alonso F1 car in my new additions thread - although as a humble PW it doesn't stack up to this Spark. As I noted in my post I am a huge Alonso fan, although he looks better in red than green in my humble opinion . Long may he be around around - if only to make the grumpiest-boy-with-everything, Lance Stroll, look very average!

I'm biased, but I think it's the best looking car on the F1 grid. Of course I would preferred they kept the large AM logo on the rear wing from 2022, but realized it's also valuable advertising real estate. As you mentioned in one of your posts Martin, this year maybe Alonso's last in F1, but expect he will turn up in prototypes if it is.
