... 'bout a man named Jed.
The elegant and sophisticated automobile below truly suits a man of means. A man who made his fortune from bubblin' crude (oil that is; black gold; Texas tea). A man named Jed. Those of you with sharp eyes and an in-depth knowledge of "star cars" will probably spot the fact that this is a mid-twenties Ford whereas the original was a 1921 Oldsmobile. The hood and grille were a bit rounder on the Olds, but this thing shows pretty well, and it was a blast to build. The donor vehicle was a Yat Ming Ford pickup that I bought as part of a lot of three. The top was removed, the front fenders heavily modified and the bed ground down. The rear of the chassis was narrowed slightly. The wheels and tires are from an Ertl Model "T" delivery van, as are the bulb and bell of the horn. Jed, Jethro, Ellie Mae, Granny and the critters are Arttista "O" scale figures that were modified and/or repainted. The barrels and broom on the front fenders, and Grannys' gun are from Wiseman Model Services, Inc. Grannys' rocking chair is a 3D print from a vendor on Shapeways. Everything else is scratch built. The weathering was done with ground pastels, acrylics, and the "hairspray" method. Y'all come back now, hear?

Great work as always. The thing I always used to think about watching that show (Besides Ellie Mae) is that I could not imagine the 8 kinds of hell that riding in that contraption all the way to Cali must have been. And that the first thing someone like Jethro would do with money is buy a flashy car.

What a great work! I'm sure to remember that you have shown this fantastic model in any different thread, already, and it's a pleasure to see it here again! - I had to make some researching on imdb.com and wikipedia, because this show "The Beverly Hillbillies" (which you haven't mentioned) was never broadcasted in Germany. So I have absolutely no idea of all that stuff. But, well, my Grandma always said "you're getting old as a cow, learning right now" (in German, of course ). So I think I can now estimate what you've created with this fantastic "star car". Congratulations!

Beverly Hillbillies. Fabulous programme on the BBC and compulsive viewing from my childhood. Well done for recreating their transport!
