I really like the artwork in the corner. I think that will be a great touch! Wet roads are hard. You want sheen, but not too much and not so much it distorts or loses any of the road imperfections or highlights you put in. The silver will put nice highlights in the wet tire tracks. I find my road surfaces mellow with age, exposure to air, light, dust, etc. Looking great!

Glad you are all enjoying the show so far. Just managed to add a little something today. I purchased some cheap grey tone charcoal sticks a few weeks back not really knowing what I could use them for at the time. It was another of my experiments but I think I have just found the perfect use for them. Looking at the many photographs of the finish I wanted to try and replicate the tyre streaks behind each GT40. They need to be matt as the tyres shift the water off the surface of the track. My cheap charcoal sticks I think work well. This my first attempt but feel it is going in the right direction. It also gives a little impression of speed too. My creation continues........

Still plenty to do but one thing I had to sort sooner rather than later was the official with the chequered flag. I knew it would be a Denizen figure so ordered the last two from Grand Prix Models the other week. Good job I ordered two as on close inspection there was a little damage to one figure. Something I will correct at a later date. As ever a small amount of research required. On closer inspection of the limited colour photographs available on the net I believe he is wearing a light blue jacket, either black or very dark blue trousers. One other small piece, he has a red arm band on his left arm. Difficult to see in the picture but look carefully. It would appear mechanics and other officials had red arm bands at the 66 race. One or two have actually come up for auction on memorabilia sites. Here is my reference photo. First coat of white primer after a clean. I'm going with the very dark blue trousers. This is the first very light coat to get into the creases of the fabric. What I will have to make is his hat which you can see is in his left hand on the reference picture.

You are going to greater lengths than I by making the hat. I have the same Denizen figure in my diorama and haven't decided if I am going to repaint him (was from a prior project). I still have to summon the courage to crack open the two remaining Sparks to put driver figures in. 😁

Figurine looks very lifelike. I'm sure this will turn out great.
