Hi Guys, Has any one remove a moulded windscreen wiper from clear plastic ? I want to upgrade a Ferrari 512S Concept by Politoys. Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

That'll be tough, as it's easy to crack the screen when you put any pressure on it. I guess I'd use a scalpel blade to carefully remove the relief, then very fine steel wool to take away the rest. Then it's time for some polishing agent, toothpaste will work for the final phase but automotive cutting compound is probably better for the first stages.

I've done this a few times. I use a hobby knife to scrape the wiper off almost flat. Then I use sandpaper starting at about 240 grit and going up a step at a time to 12000 grit. Then I polish with Fitz and finish with Future. It takes a long time but it can be done.
This one had the wiper removed:

Thanks for thae advice Tom & Alex. I'll shortly give it a go. Think I'll take the precaution of lining the rear of the screen with Blu Tack to prevent cracking.

Sounds like a good idea. Don't apply much pressure anyway.

Hi David ,while I have been following this site for sometime, this will be my first ever post.Might I suggest you consider using a small flat modellers file to remove moulded in wiper blades.Avaiable in sets from model shops, possibly e.bay.It will give you much better control,.if you also get modellers sanding polishing pads as well, ans go through the various grades you should get a good clear finish.Needless too say you,You ideally need too remove the screen from the model. I hope this helps.
