May seem a mistake to place this thread in Race Car topics, but it's not. This rare and very special 911 R was thought since the beginning to be a race car, not to be sold to the public. With a lightweight concept, minimal interior and the 6 cylinder 220 hp engine from 906 and 910, this was a real race car with a short but interesting career. I had this diecast for long ago, and made a Le Mans version that didn't satisfy me any more. A view of the real 911R made grab this model again. 911 and 912 share the same body dimensions, with differences when it comes to details and engine (1,2). Original doors of the model were too short, and that was giving a wrong image of car's proportions. I wad to increase them, and create the bumpers and enlarge the rear wheelarches. This was a tough job (3, 4). Going to 1/43 garage after a day's work can give a rewarding feeling, but that doesn't necessarily means that a good work will be done in the model. Experience told me that sometimes it's better to postpone some delicate tasks, if we dont feel phisically or mentally fit. That happened a couple of times with this car. Gloss varnish sometimes warm the white colour a bit, but in this case that didn't bother me, and improved the final look of the model. Finally, part of the interior was adapted from Solido's 934, headlights from Remember and Fuchs wheels from Arena Modelli completed this work.

Fantastic job!
You might know that the Porsche 911/12 got a longer wheelbase early in its life. This might account for the difference in the proportions.

I have had jobs in a box for years, waiting for the day I felt good enough to face them! So you extended the front side of the doors! I did a similar job when modifying a Jaguar sedan to make a Jaguar coupe. Not easy and not good result, even though I worked with the rear border of door. You made a terrific job with a much better result than mine.
