I recent found this poor picture of a transporter carrying half of the 10 Ferrari's entered at Le Mans in 1972 and was inspired to recreate it in 1:43. The recent arrival of an IXO truck and trailer transporter combination has made this possible with a bit of artistic licence.
The five cars on the transporter were from a mixture of customer teams:
- Upper Front: Red #46 Ferrari Dino 246 (NART)
- Upper Rear: Maroon #38 Ferrari 365 GTB4 Daytona (NART)
- Lower Front: Red #37 Ferrari 365 GTB4 Daytona (Maranello Concessionaires)
- Lower Rear: Red #74 Ferrari 365 GTB4 Daytona (NART)
- Trailer: Yellow #36 Ferrari 365 GTB4 Daytona (Ecurie Francorchamps)
I wonder if anyone told the truck driver the value of the load he was carrying?
At today's prices, reproducing this in 1:43 would also cost a small fortune if you could find all the cars. Fortunately, I collected these when the availability was better and prices were more modest.

That is a real treat Ian - wonderful. 1:43 or 1:1 that is a very expensive collection! I'm guessing this is what you may have hinted about recently , if so then very much yes.

Is that the new green IXO transporter Ian If so was wondering where it would fit in with someones collection. Nice to see.
I don't think the value of the load crossed the drivers mind. All he knew was to make sure they arrived when they should of done I suspect.
Thanks for sharing.

Very nice set! Wasn't their a PW version of that MAN tractor and trailer? I think it may have been blue though. Anyway, excellent!

Thanks guys. Yes, there is/was also a previous version of this transporter in red and grey for those that are interested. It's listed as a 1970 model, so could look good with a variety of 70's sportscars:
