Shame about the seats, perhaps it's better to use a degreaser to clean because brake fluid is greasy. Wheel looks great! I didn't forget to degrease the seats after stripping. The issue comes probably from a reaction between the brake fluid and the material of the seats. I hope that the problem is now solved after a last coat of brushed paint. The next step should be the painting of the black areas.
High quality detail on the wheel Thanks reeft1

Small progress this evening. The floor panel is now finished after sanding and 2 coats of black paint (ref 72.751 from Vallejo Air).

I see the deadline coming so fast. This evening was time to paint the top in black. I did the masking very carefully then painted with Tamiya X1 thinned with X20A. The result is not so bad but not very well.
After removing the tape, I have a bad surprise: it let some marks because the yellow paint was not enough hard.
I will must polish both color. But I have to wait 2 or 3 days before doing it.
The mirrors are also black now.

Great project and nicely made, congratulations! I guess the black overspray was not because the yellow was not hardened, it seems that the masking tape was not "tight enough". Airbrush spray gets anywhere underneath where's no absolutely strong masking tape, that's my experience. As for the seats: plastic parts mostly can be prepared only by brushing with (fine) steel wool. If chemicals are necessary, try Revell Aqua colour cleaner, that does not harm modern plastics, afterwards rinse with mineral spirit. And - most important: any plastic should be primed with a primer matching the final paint. I use Humbrol enamel primer for enamel paints or, for example, nitro primer for nitro paints. Go ahead, I want to see the final car! ;-)

My explainations were not clear enough because the picture doesn't show the issue. The marks coming from the tape are in the center of the door panel. There is an area where the paint is matt. That's the areas where the tape was sticked. I sanded the doors with sandpaper (size 1200) and I did a last coat of yellow paint.
At the same time, I finished the interior. Painting of the gear shift.
Finishing of the seats
The last yellow coat was brushed. Then I put the decals of the specific material and airbrushed a light coat of matt clear coat (Humbrol 49). I add the central rear seat belt and all the buckles which where not on the original model.
Finally the seats are glued on the floor panel. This assembly is now ready to be mounted in the body.

Brilliant work, your son will absolutely love the model. Some years ago a friend who was very good at making 1/24 kits made models of both my 1959 and 1961 Chevrolet Impalas, I love them and they are in a display cabinet in my lounge.

Slowly coming together. The interior looks super! Thats an excellent job on the interior Thanks all of you. I'm not so happy about this interior because of the issues I met during this work. That's not as clean as I would especially at the line between the back and the seat.
Fortunately it will be difficult to see when the body will be closed but it's not perfect. Brilliant work, your son will absolutely love the model. Some years ago a friend who was very good at making 1/24 kits made models of both my 1959 and 1961 Chevrolet Impalas, I love them and they are in a display cabinet in my lounge. Thanks. I hope too. I know that he loves well the real car so I believe that the model would have a special place in his display cabinet. After this one I will have 2 other models to do: a Twingo 1 which was my own car before and a Citroen C4 2 doors.

Nice work on the wheels. I never thought about using black glue before - that's a great tip for gluing trim!

Nice work on the wheels. I never thought about using black glue before - that's a great tip for gluing trim! Thanks. It's not exactly a black glue but the same black paint I airbrushed first on the wheels. If the part is very light, a paint or a clear coat could be enough strong to glue it. It's a good way to avoid glue marks.

I have no picture of the last stages because the time ran fast before Christmas.
I brushed a mat black around the door windows and did the chromed samples with BMF. After that I could mount all the original parts of the model : the glasses, the wipers, the front grille and the lights. After mountind the wheels on the floor panel I assembled the body and the interior and we were already 23rd decembre. Even it was not completely finished my son received is modelcar for Christmas.
This week I had to add the last details :
painting of the mate black stripes on the roof, antenna, Citroen and DS monograms, license plates... Now I can show you the finished model.
