As I reproduce all my father's cars, I must do the same for my second son who likes cars very well.
His last car is a yellow Citroen DS3 with a special interior. This version doesn't exist as a modelcar. I had to find a similar version to have the right basis. I found a red one
And the real car is like that
With this kind of seats
First of all, I need to get the shape of all the area which are yellow and black.
I cut samples of tape and I put them on a sheet. I need a template to draw the decals. You will see the decals later.
After that I could remove the paint. At this step, it's like a modelkit with 44 parts.

Great work so far, I'm impressed with your dismantling skills. Tried taking a Minichamps apart once, that didn't work out well.

A very worthwhile project. I hope. I think your son will be thrilled with the final product. I hope too. It was his request because he know the models I did for my father but he doesn't know that I work on for this Christmas. Great work so far, I'm impressed with your dismantling skills. Tried taking a Minichamps apart once, that didn't work out well. There is often surprises. The most difficult is to dismount the cristal parts. Sometimes there is too much glue and that causes accident. But if the risk is too high, I take a print with silicon and I could copy the part. I had once to do that for the rear lights of a Renault Laguna mk3.

First step. Change the color of the dashboard using a "Metal Color" steel ref 77.712 from Vallejo. Before
After
For the driver seat, because my son is tall I want to show the headrest on its top position. I have to cut it from the back.
I created the chromed rods and the tricky operation was to drill the holes at the right position on both parts.
I painted the wheels with a Vallejo "Game Air" black ref 72.751.
The chassis of this DS3 from IXO is exactly the same as their WRC version. That why we can see the longi axle. I choose to remove it.
One big hole remains. I had to fill it with a small evergreen part and Milliput.
Now its time for the body painting. First I put a 2K primer from Renaissance which is very on zamak parts.
After sanding with 1200 paper, I prepared the color. A mixture of 3 times white X2 and once yellow X8 from Tamiya. That matches well with the color of the real car. I brushed this paint on the inside of the body.
When it was dry I could paint the outside but with airbrush.
I did the seats in the same time.

After few days of drying, the paint of the seats remains sticky. I think that it comes from the stripping which was done with brake liquid. Maybe a combination between the liquid and the plastic material. And now there a bad adhesion between the paint and the material. I try to strip again this time with Glaenzer. After a good cleaning with soap and water, I brushed with a "Vallejo" paint to separate the material from the yellow. 24 h later I painted the Tamiya yellow by airbrush. But the result is again bad.
Now I let dry 24 h and I will try another way. At the same time I had to finish the wheels. I tried a sort of pad printing to do the silver areas. I put a thin slice of paint on a Bristol card then I squeezed the wheel against the card. I had to do some finishing like the nuts with brush to obtain that result.
IXO forgot one detail at the center of the wheel. I machined a small ring and glued it with black paint to avoid glue mark. The inside must be yellow and the front side silver. The wheels are almost finished.
We can see a small mistake from IXO: the 4 screws are not arrange following a square as it must be normally but following a rectangle. Strange!

Shame about the seats, perhaps it's better to use a degreaser to clean because brake fluid is greasy. Wheel looks great!
