As a discounted box filler with an interesting history that's more than acceptable. Very nice.

Excellent in every way. Pretty sure I'd be unable to resist it either. The new Brumm versions of these are pretty nice Tom. Absolutely gorgeous! A great, classic addition to your collection of Alfas! I can't resist a 6C Julio! I'm happy with it Paul. As a discounted box filler with an interesting history that's more than acceptable. Very nice. It was on my 'grab sometime" list Ian, so when the chance came up..... Good grief page 3 already! Enjoying the show so far Martin. It's the large format photos Paul . I suspect that by this time last year I was probably at least one more page in, but as this was on the old site we'll never know

I am only six models into 2023 but I am already going to call out this one as my “Model of the Year”. I knew I would be in trouble when I saw that Tecnomodel were doing some of the 1951 F1 Alfa Romeos in 1:43. For Alfisti the Alfetta 158/159 cars are very special, not to mention beautiful, being from the era of elegant front-engined single-seaters. These cars date from 1937/38 and had success before they had to be hidden away for the duration of WW2. When they re-emerged and hit the tracks again in 1946 they went back to their winning ways, adding another 11 victories in GPs to the 6 they scored before the war. Alfa Romeo kept the 158s away from frontline competition in 1949 but were back for the commencement of the new F1 World Championship in 1950. Between them, Giuseppe “Nino” Farina and Juan Manuel Fangio won six of the seven Championship GPs in 1950 – the other race being the Indianapolis 500 which Alfa Romeo did not enter. Both scored three wins but Farina won the Title with 30 points to Fangio’s 27 as he had a better finishing record. Alfa updated the cars to 159-spec for the 1951 F1 season. This car had an updated De-Dion axle rear suspension, and development of the 1.5-litre supercharged straight-8 engine took power from 300+ bhp to 420 bhp. Although Ala Romeo faced stronger opposition from Ferrari in 1951, they still won four of the eight Championship GPs – Ferrari won three and the other was again the Indy 500 which Alfa stayed away from. Fangio won three GPs to take the Title 31 points to Ferrari’s Alberto Ascari on 25. Farina won one GP, the Belgian, to finish 3rd in the Title, one point behind Ascari. Tecnomodel have recently released four versions of the Alfetta 159, one unnumbered “Prova” car, Fangio’s Swiss GP winner, Paul Pietsch’s German GP entry, and Farina’s car from the Spanish GP. The perfect outcome for me would be to add all four, but at around or over A$200 a pop with postage that is not possible. Minichamps did the Fangio and Pietsch cars a few years ago, and while not up to modern Tecnomodel quality they still hold up well. I therefore went with the Farina car. The 1951 Spanish GP was the last race of the F1 Championship season and by this time the 4.5-litre V12 Ferraris were starting to get on top of the Alfas. Ascari qualified his Ferrari on Pole from Fangio’s Alfa, followed up By Jose Froilan Gonzalez’ Ferrari and Farina. Ferrari made a tactical era in the race choosing 16-inch rear wheels as opposed to the 18-inch ones on the Alfas. Ascari had to stop to change tyres during the race, leaving Fangio to take the win for Alfa, followed home by Gonzalez and Farina. Alfa withdrew from F1 ant the end of the year, the 158/159s having taken victory in 47 of the 54 GPs it contested between 1938 and 1953. Tecnomodel – Mythos Collection
Ferrari Romeo Alfetta 159M 1.5 s/c
Alfa Romeo SpA – Giuseppe Farina
1951 Spanish GP – 3rd

Some accolade Martin. Week 6 of 52 and he has hit "model of the year" . I get it but who knows what's to come......hmmmm. I will admit it is certainly a top 3 contender though.

Easy to see why it’s an early candidate for model of the year Martin.
So you need another $600 to get the other 3 versions. What’s the going rate for selling a kidney these days?

Now that is what a race car and a race car model are supposed to look like. I heard a rumor that the latest Mega Millions drawing was one by someone in Australia, now I know.

That model looks a treat! Having the MC version of Fangio's 159, this one would make a nice addition and companion to it in my collection. 😁

If it's possible to fall in love with a car, then this is the one for me Paul Beautiful car deserving of a high-quality model. Fantastic. The Minichamps are good Tom, but this one is just that bit more special. Some accolade Martin. Week 6 of 52 and he has hit "model of the year" . I get it but who knows what's to come......hmmmm. I will admit it is certainly a top 3 contender though. Apart form the Giulietta TCR cars that should come my way this year (and I will be the only one salivating over these ones) then I don't know what can top this one Paul . Easy to see why it’s an early candidate for model of the year Martin. So you need another $600 to get the other 3 versions. What’s the going rate for selling a kidney these days? Hmmmm, I'm off to the dark web to find out Ian . Now that is what a race car and a race car model are supposed to look like. I heard a rumor that the latest Mega Millions drawing was one by someone in Australia, now I know. If the winner was me Jeff, all 4 of these Tecnomodels would be on their way to me, and there would be a phone call to the Alfa Museum to see if they would part with a 1:1!!! That model looks a treat! Having the MC version of Fangio's 159, this one would make a nice addition and companion to it in my collection. 😁 I can only encourage you to hit "buy" Jerry - I believe there are not a huge amount of them around - there are only 90 of the farina car, but maybe a few more of the Fangio version. 47 wins out of 54. Wowzers. Beautiful and highly effective. If only Alfa Romeo were as successful in F1 (or any type of motorsport) these days Paul.
