This legendary American record breaker died on Tuesday.

A boyhood hero. I remember well the record attempts by Breedlove, Thompson and the Arfons. It was big news when racing other than the Indy 500 was not. In 1966 I believe, the Spirit of America - Sonic 1 was toured around America. My Dad took me to see it at the Chevy dealer when it stopped in our town. It was cool!

That is a lovely model of a global icon! Afraid there's not enough collection runway for speed record vehicles here. Anyone build a scale version of a salt flat? Perhaps a Mr. Morton, hahaha!
