This used to be a thread in the old place. My jobs in automotive have enabled me to get some leftover car parts that might or might not work as a display background for 1:43. A headlight from an Alfa Giulietta, a rear light from an Aston Martin Vantage, a Mercedes grill. I've also gotten my hands on several badges that will display very well indeed. This is my latest addition and one of very few older examples. It looks to me like the real thing, it's sturdy and heavy and has some wear from being exposed to the elements. It was however insanely cheap, I guess the seller didn't care or was very motivated to sell.

Beautiful! One of the prettiest car mascots ever! Boy, I’d love one of those and a Spirit of Ecstasy to display along my models!

Looks like one from a SIII XJ6 Tom. Jaguar leapers came in three sizes. This one, the larger one used on XK's, Mk2, etc. and a smaller one on the MkX. Later ones in this size from X-Type, XJ8 have the spring loaded breakaway feature. Contrary to Brooks assertion I only have two. One on a car and one like Tom's mounted on a piece of marble. 😁

Thanks Jerry, I think 10 euros was a decent price for this. I'll look out for a nicely textured block of wood to mount it on, that'll look fantastic behind my Jaguar models.

Since the title of this thread is "Displaying models with 1:1 car parts", where is the Jaguar model to go with the Leaper .

Plenty of those in my collection thread. Unfortunately the cat isn't self-supporting so there’s no displaying to be done until I mount it to a suitable block of wood.

That's about what I had in mind. A while ago I had to photograph some car-related jewelry stuff (cufflinks, tie clips etc) and I'd proposed to the client to accompany every item by a real car badge in the background. When I was done I fully expected the client to take the badges (he paid for them) but he only took a few, leaving me with a nice selection that I can use for my displays. I'll find a creative way to include them.
Love your displays, Jerry!

Good to see this thread here too, nice idea I think my only photo of this theme in 1/43 is the NEO Mazda 323F with real 323 BG 13" wheel. Can't redo this photo anymore because I sold the 323 wheels years ago. In the old forum I think I showed also the Welly Kia Rio model with 1/1 oil filter and rear window wiper blade, but it's not 1/43 so maybe I'll leave it out from this thread.

Love that Alfa display Jerry. Where did you find the 50's Alfa badge - a local find or an eBay purchase?

Love that Alfa display Jerry. Where did you find the 50's Alfa badge - a local find or an eBay purchase? It was gifted to me by a friend. I also have the grill to one, probably as close as I will come to having a complete car.

I like that, those badges really add something to your displays!
You are right, the Automatic badge is off a mk.1 Granada, Capri or a Taunus. It looks incredibly similar to the style of badges used by Mercedes though, those just used a rounder typeface.
