During recent years, have somehow added quite a few 1/64 scale castings Most of them are the usual Hotwheels, Matchbox and Majorette castings, but there's few more detailed ones in the mix. I don't have enough space in my Flickr to show all of them, but here's few nicer ones.
At the moment, this is my latest 1/64, Mini GT Eunos Roadster, known outside Japan as Mazda MX-5 Miata. This has almost 1/43 scale detail level, separate piece exterior mirrors, lensed front and tail lights and correct alloy wheels. No reflecting surface on the mirrors though, and interior has no decals or other usual 1/43 details. The GT6 pic is just for comparison
Then for example AutoWorld and Greenlight models, which are more detailed than usual Hotwheels, Matchbox, or Majorette:
Jeep Wrangler, MacGyver's car, Greenlight:
Pontiac Trans-Am GTA in one of the MacGyver episodes: "Collision course", by Greenlight:
Chevrolet K-10 monster truck by Greenlight. I used to have Ford monster truck too, but sold it.
AutoWorld Pontiac Firebird 4th gen 1993:
Autoworld Chevrolet Camaro 3rd gen 1984:

The MX5 looks amazing! Will you leave the other ones in their packaging? I guess that's the eternal dilemma, especially with the special editions.

1/64 seems to be very hot right now with some very nice offerings to be seen. The MX-5 is a delight.

The MX5 looks amazing! Will you leave the other ones in their packaging? I guess that's the eternal dilemma, especially with the special editions. Thanks, the MX-5 is indeed my best 1/64 at the moment. I do open all my models, well except second peaces of my Hotwheels Knight Rider models, the ordinary and Super Pursuit Mode KITT castings. Just decided to use these pics with original packaging with the models. Perhaps I need to redo the pics to show better just the cars.
Even when I'm opening the packaging, I try to open them nicely with minimal damage. I keep the cars stored inside the original packaging to avoid damaging them.
I remember as a kid I used to keep all my toycars loose in the toybox and the paint got chipped and scratched, so there's the reason I rather keep them in their original packaging when I'm not photographing or displaying them. Loose cars might get damaged more easily.
The negative side of course is that the packaging takes more space than just the car, but I feel as a collector, the original packaging is valuable enough to keep in all scales. Nowdays even mainline Hotwheels and Matchbox usually have unique artwork for each release.
1/64 seems to be very hot right now with some very nice offerings to be seen. The MX-5 is a delight. Thank you, indeed looks like there's more and more cars available in 1/64, and they improve the details all the time. Still, they are small, so details are pretty hard to see, so 1/43 is better in that regard, and I still consider my main focus being in 1/43 scale
