I'd take it to the tracks, it's not exactly a thing of great beauty I'd want to look at every day.

Different. I'm with Tom, that's one to use at the track.
I get the concept of popping a car in the lounge. I would if I could, but I'm thinking really you need to be on the ground floor with big doors, so you can take it out and use it

Great, but not that unusual, I guess... I live in the southwest of Berlin, and as far as I know there are some people having their luxury cars side by side in the living room or anywhere else...! A couple of years ago one of them had his Porsche dislocated from the first floor of a vintage building, here are photos of this event:
I guess the biggest problem are the different liquids in any car: We all know that old cars always loose petrol, oil, grease, brake liquid and so on. To have that smell in the flat - no thanks But in Germany we say: "Jedem Tierchen sein Pläsierchen" (means: "every pet its little pleasure" )

There's a gent living locally who's restored his Jaguar XK120 himself. He thought it would be a good idea to park the car in the living room when it was done. His wife said no, so now he's single. With a Jaguar in his living room.

Here, for display indoors, the petrol tank has to be less than 1/4 full and the battery disconnected. I wouldn't think on a more modern car, leaking gearbox, diff, radiator and brake fluid would be a problem. On an older car, maybe drain the gearbox if it leaks. I don't notice any unpleasant smells when my older Jags are penned up for the winter in the garage. Come to think of it, the aroma of old leather would be nice in a house study or library. 😁

Kind of sad. Cars are meant to be driven:
Indeed they are! Even if sparingly or very carefully, they are meant to be used and enjoyed. The only 'thing' I don't quite get are people racing $30 million vintage racers! Then again, I will probably never be in that demographic so I guess my mind just works differently. I'm so miserly, I probably wouldn't drive a 'classic' in the rain....

I forgot to mention, Mr. XK120 parks his car in the living room when he's not using it. I met him at several classic car meets.

Assuming I had the money to buy it, I would race it. In the off chance it was damaged repairs would not cost the value of the car, only a fraction. Any car I've had where I was starting to drive it less because I didn't want to see more miles or rock chips on the front, I sold and bought something else to drive. Even in the rain! Of course if you didn't want to drive in the rain here, you wouldn't drive at all. 😁

My two old cars live in the garage, I wouldn't contemplate having them in my house even if I could afford it. If I had lots of money I would still keep my cars in nice storage and the only cars in my house would be my models.
