At our local club meeting yesterday, the competition theme was "1:43", so I did this display featuring one box/car from every brand in my collection. One of the things I like about 1:43 is there are so many model makers that allow you to mix and match cars from different series.
As it was, a 1.8m/6 foot table (the maximum permitted for our competitions) wasn't big enough and I had to leave a few out.
How many different model brands do you have in your collection?

That's a wonderful take on the theme and a fantastic selection. I'm guessing a far bit of time went into putting this together -a good way to unwind after a hard week of work.

The thought process in tracking all this down must have been very intense, and what a great result.

Great looking display and clever idea! You pose an interesting question. One I will have to comb my database for an answer. 🤔
Having looked it up, there are 267 different brands in my collection from 1st Model to Yow Modelli.

Splendid display, I like what you did with the brands. Plus naturally I have to check if I have any of the models, there are one or two. Interesting question, may have to consult my collecting books, yes I write my collection onto paper using a pen, I'm so old fashioned. Plus I have no idea how to put them onto a database like Jerry does thus I qualify as a Luddite.

I've never given that idea any consideration Ian. What an excellent concept. I'm sure my collection is not as diverse in brands as yours having viewed your pics but well worth investigating. If you think about it, before the main stream brands started churning out their "built" models we all relied on cottage industry kits previously, and there were a vast number in the day. Great display.

Extremely creative way to share 1:43 with others Ian. Know well from experience, it's not easy to dig out models AND their boxes like this on a large collection. Your printed plaques with logos look nice too!

Thanks everyone. I guess the number of brands is no surprise to most of us on the forum, but to other collectors it was a bit of an eye opener. FOr example, we have quite a few collectors in our club who only collect the models of one particular brand (i.e. Trax or Vanguards), so they have never heard of many of these brands.
Thankfully I have a good database of my collection which made identifying and selecting a group of models a lot easier than it might have been. Now I just have to put the models away - some will go back in the display cabinet and some back into storage.
