1:43 has been my "thing" for many years now, but like most of us I started off collecting Matchbox 75 cars (and others) when I was a young lad. I used to drive my Mother crazy by standing in front of the Matchbox selection in our local toy shop, narrowing it down to 2 models, not being able to decide which one to get that day, until she relented and bought both for me . I probably still add 2-3 of these smaller vehicles to my collection each year, and still have most of them from when I was a small boy. I will use this thread to post new purchases and maybe some older ones when time permits. My Western Australia buyer's agent alerted me to this new Hot Wheels release recently. While on my travels today running errands I managed to find one in a Target Store. Hot Wheels - Alfa Romeo 116 GTV6 3.0I also popped into another toy shop that was next to the place I was picking up a part from for my 1:1 Spider, and found this 1:57 version of a recent Alfa Spider. Majorette - Alfa Romeo 4C Spider

Given Hot Wheels are predominantly made for the US market, I wonder how many kids there have even heard of a GTV6. They probably think it's some fantasy car! It will be interesting to see what other variations they produce using this casting in the coming years.

Dangerous move letting a 1:64 in the door, they tend to multi[ply like rabbits. But I fully get the purchase.

Nice looking Alfa! I will have to alert my son the Hot Wheels collector to keep an eye outfor one for me. I guess I am on the far side of the age divide when it comes to HW and Matchbox. HW came out when I had already for the most part stopped playing with toy cars ( at least not like I do now). Matchbox were too small to fit well with the Corgi and Dinkys when I was, so never had much desire or affinity for either brand. That doesn't mean I don't mind getting the odd one or two that interest me. Like this one! 😁

Nice ones! I tend to go for the Matchbox rather than the Hotwheels as a local discount store has them for 75 cents. Also a more interesting selection of subjects for a European.

Nice pair!
I like that GTV however, like Tom, I usually prefer Matchbox over HotWheels, price notwithstanding.

Enjoy the picture you paint Martin as a young boy persuading Mom to buy a few cars. I did the same in a very subtle manner, but my go to seemed to be TOMY 'Pocket Cars' in the mid to late 1970s. From there Gradma started buying me the 'good stuff' from Corgi, Models of Yesteryear etc. From there Bburago in the early 1980s and then I left the hobby until 2000. Probably more than anybody wanted to know, just love hearing nostalgic hobby stories Lovely GTV by the way...and to counter Jerry, I actually DID know what a GTV was when I was a kid, but I was probably a bit of a weirdo, ahhahaha!

Dangerous move letting a 1:64 in the door, they tend to multi[ply like rabbits. But I fully get the purchase. I already have quite a few boxes of "rabbits" tucked away Jeff - I definitely try to keep new ones to a minimum Nice looking Alfa! That doesn't mean I don't mind getting the odd one or two that interest me. Like this one! 😁 I very much wanted to have the Dinkys and Corgis as a lad Jerry but I guess that coming from a working family the Matchbox cars were much more in my parent's scope (I did want a lot of them after all ). Nice ones! I tend to go for the Matchbox rather than the Hotwheels as a local discount store has them for 75 cents. Also a more interesting selection of subjects for a European. Matchbox makes up by far the majority of my 1:64ish collection as well Tom. These days I really only add them if they are Alfa Romeos or the odd Fiat so I tend to be a bit brand agnostic. My preference would be for Matchbox if possible as they are still that little bit less leery than HW. Nice pair! I like that GTV however, like Tom, I usually prefer Matchbox over HotWheels, price notwithstanding. I'm with you here Julio, as I noted above Matchbox would outdo HW by about 30-to-1 in my colelction. Enjoy the picture you paint Martin as a young boy persuading Mom to buy a few cars. Being is a smallish town in New Zealand as as pre-teen meant that that Matchbox was pretty much the only option in 1:64, apart form the (basic) local "Fun Ho" brand. My Dad worked on the wharves back then and did have a friend on a UK ship that would bring me the odd Matchbox Model of Yesteryear car, which I treasure to this day - I was only allowed to get them out of their boxes when I was home from school sick with the flu! When we moved to Australia in the late '70s a whole new world of diecast cars opened up to me.

I sold all my Matchbox/Hot Wheels/Husky/Corgi Junior years ago when the market was hot. I don't miss them but I do wish that I had taken pictures of them.

Love these little models and your words Paul. I do have to mention that while we are the same age, both live in Australia (albeit on opposite corners), and are Alfaholics, these are my 1:64s and not Ian's . For future reference, he is the good lookin' Australian on the Forum - I am the scraggly one with long grey hair .

Doh! I am having trouble remembering names of late, last week I couldn't recall the name of a guy who lives just up the road from me. And that Wall of Cars name is Brooks. Guess that I am getting old, well I am 69 in October. Sorry about that Martin, I shall have to remember that as that is also my brother's name. Wanders off muttering 'must try harder to remember peoples names'.
