Nice Diablo. I've got a white GTR by Kyosho, which is the same mould. But this GT has prettier wheels and rear wing. And of course the logo on the side.

While waiting for some models to arrive, here is one which is with me for some time now. It does not fit into my collection because I collect mainly exotics and vintage models of cars produced until 1980s. There is a story behind this model. I own a real W211 which is E200 CDI modification. The car was purchased almost new from Germany back in 2007 and served in a company I used to work for. In 2019 the company decided it is time to renew its fleet and many cars were offered to employees at prices well below the market ones. At the same time there were some restructuring ongoing, I was based in Nis, Serbia for the last 5 years and there was an opportunity to return and work in Sofia, Bulgaria. Having just met my future wife, and also taking into account that my family is in Sofia, it was an easy decision to return to Sofia. However, the new position did not have benefits like a company car. A problem was arising because I needed a car as a daily but the company fleet sale came at the right time. I was reluctant to buy exactly the E-class because after all it is a German executive car and German cars can be very expensive to maintain. Also it had 410 000 km on the clock. I was the only bidder so to say, and bought it for 1200 euros. Quite a bargain. It did not start when I wanted to drive it of the lot. Not a good start, it turned out the battery went off because the car was sitting for 4 months. With some help with friends it started and 5 years and 60 000 km later I still drive it daily. For the past 5 years front suspension was replaced, a radiator fan, an oil cooler and some minor parts. It is an old gal, the transmission needs a rebuild, the chain also needs to be replaced and there is some rust but I should not complain. The car served me for 5 years and it set me back peanut money. My idea is to keep it and see how many more km it can take. Also my wife just loves the double oval headlights design.
Maybe I should give her the keys, but I really do not know what to buy for me. I am looking around and the cars I like are either too expensive and what I can afford has too many kms.
The Minichamps model used to be hard to find but it was reissued as a Maxichamps. They offer both pre-facelift and facelift sedans. Estates are available as well. Nice model overall. Mercedes-Benz E-class (W211) Paris-Beijing 2006 Team Aral - Minichamps
It was intentional this pic. Usually my car is not that dirty

Good to hear that you're a satified W211 owner. Conversely, a friend had one he's owned from new that has spent more time stading still than in use, because it had so many issues.
It seems that when you have a good one it keeps going, though the rust issues are more severe than on the W124.

It really depends on the model/modification. 4matic cars are expensive to maintain, also if they come with airmatic it can get ugly.
There are many many things that can go wrong with a W211. Very good friend of mine has 2005 CLS350 with airmatic. CLS is based on the W211. His mileage per years is 5-7000 km and he spends 3-4000 euros for maintenance. Ageing Mercedes can break the bank.
My observation is that less equipment means less issues with these. Also the diesel OM646 is very strong engine but lacking on power. I would say it is even inadequate taking into account the weight of the car. I have a friend with the E500 and boy, oh boy, this is something else. And again, the repairing bills are something else compared to my humble E200.
Another issue with the engine is that soon it would not be possible to enter city centers because of eco restrictions.

That is lovely, lots of charm to Brooklin models. I love holding a white metal model, it feels so nice and solid.

It’s been years since the last time I bought a Brooklin model but, like Tom said, their charm is undeniable!

Another one we share, I bought it new as my friend's shop used to put new Brooklins aside for me. It's a nice model and very charming. I think that the first car above the lovely blue Chevy is a Kaiser Manhattan like the one you bought recently. If it is it's quite a coincidence!
