There was an absolute deluge of rain Wednesday night with anywhere between 4 and 7 inches of rainfall. Thursday it cleared and got hot and sunny. Was hoping that meant the end of it Around Midnight we woke up to the warning sirens (first time they have ever gone off) and lots of lightning. We turned on the TV to learn that we had a Tornado spotted, There was no doubt as the wind was incredible as was the rain. We were lucky, it did not touch down in our neighborhood, a few blocks south they were not quite as lucky. There is a lot of damage and some homes look like they will have to be torn down. 1000's of people will not have power for a week or more. Luckily there were no reported injuries. We have a mess to clean up here but no real damage except to the trees. All we hear are generators and chainsaws and tree grinding trucks. This is on the heels of a major windstorm that hit the lack shore 2 weeks ago, they have not gotten all of that cleaned up yet.

I’m glad to read that you’re OK, Jeff!
It must be quite scary to have a tornado warning! The weather is absolutely crazy all over the world, I guess that the effects of global warming have been much worse than expected! Take care, my friend!

Glad to hear you are okay and your area was spared. Nasty stuff tornadoes. We get high winds and the sound of generators and chainsaws here is common after a major storm. Wind does enough damage, thankfully, no cyclones! We have now had no rain for 3 1/2 months. Dry, dry, dry! A lightning storm Thursday night set off over twenty (mostly small) new fires in the forests in our area. Too smokey to spend time outdoors. This is what the end of summer has become I'm afraid, but grateful no tornadoes! 😀 Here is our current fire map. data.registerguard.com/fires/

Very nasty, glad you're okay but also thinking of those who have had their homes badly damaged. Hopefully nobody was hurt.

We do live in crazy times. Pleased to hear you are OK jeff, but feel for your fellow residents.
After having more rain than we knew what to do with last winter (and spring and summer), like Jerry we have had pretty much nothing this winter. The locals are already starting to talk about the coming bushfire season as we are nearly as dry as we were coming into summer 2019!!

The weather is absolutely crazy all over the world, I guess that the effects of global warming have been much worse than expected! Take care, my friend! Thank you Julio. We get warnings many times each season, I think the reason they ran the siren is because it was the middle of the night. I don't think Global Warming has anything to do with it, this is the 4th one I have been this close to. 1 in the 60's, one in the 70's, one on the 2010's and now. I live on the Lake Erie shore, when warm front pass over the cooler lakes water, this kind of thing can happen. Glad to hear you are okay and your area was spared. Nasty stuff tornadoes. I have built up my brush pile twice a year the last couple years instead of the usual once. Of course, my trees are bigger to. I would take wind and rain over fire any day of the week. Wow. Not complaining about our rain recently... glad you got spared by the tornado! Feeling very lucky not to have taken the brunt of the last 2 storms, Tom. Thanks! Very nasty, glad you're okay but also thinking of those who have had their homes badly damaged. Hopefully nobody was hurt. Luckily no injuries have been reported. A total of 5 hit the area but everyone was spared. There was a 100 year old Church in Cleveland that had its roof torn off but being the middle of the night, nobody was there. And a few thousand home will not have power till late in the week. Sort of telling that the ones without power are bitching more than the ones without houses.

Glad you avoided the worst of it Jeff. That’s not an experience anybody wants to go through.

Glad to hear you are okay Jeff Glad you avoided the worst of it Jeff. That’s not an experience anybody wants to go through. Thanks men, we feel as though for us, it sounds worse than it was. Yes, it was scary but we did not take a direct hit. There are still people without power and some are out of their homes. They are the ones I am thinking about.
