Nice stuff, might have to point my camera at some of my cars. I think that Trofeu have just released the Birrell Capri from that Brands Hatch race, he inherited the win after closely following the epic duel between John Fitzpatrick in the Broadspeed Escort RS1600 and Frank Gardner in the SCA Camaro. That duel ended with a collision between the Escort and Camaro after the Escort accidentally clipped a wheel on the Camaro which promptly deflated causing it to clobber the Escort which rolled heavily. Fitzpatrick gave a talk at out motor racing club and told us that as he and Gardner walked back to the pits they said that they had to get their story straight to their respective car owners especially as the Escort had been sold to New Zealand. Ralph Broad was definitely not amused! I was at Brands for that meeting at Paddock Hill bend, it was the sad occasion of the fatal accident for Jo Siffert in the F1 race.

Excellent stuff Paul. I was a huge fan of touring car racing before I knew what it was, because it was a bunch of cars that I knew battling it out. Then came the '90s and the BTCC, I was glued to the tube for every race.

Another fan of touring car racing here, and of course as a Fordie these models are right in my wheelhouse. I would still love for someone to do 1:43 versions of the orange "Masteron Homes" Capris that raced over here in the early '80s. I have been doing a bit of reading (and watching old YouTube clips) of the 1985/86 Australian Touring Car Championship lately, the first 2 years we used the Group AC rules. Lots of BMW 635s, Volvo 240Ts, Ford Mustangs and GTV6 Alfas amongst others.

Like others, I didn't really get into the BTCC series until the 1990's, so its interesting to see some of the cars from earlier periods. I still remember seeing Mansell punted off the track at Donington. I thought Minichamps had produced that car (or is this a conversion?):

They should have made a before and after version!

That Minichamps Mondeo looks really good as a race car. Their street version models are so plain and boring!
