I received this model, only a few days ago!  …and a two days ago I noticed that its driver’s side door handles are glued backwards! An unbelievable lack of Quality Control from Matrix!  I got in touch with MONDO and they gave me two options: a $10 dollar partial refund or they will accept a return but they’re offering a ridiculous amount for shipping, arguing that they’re unable to send return labels… ”Due to the current political situation in Europe, couriers have blocked return labels, so you can proceed with shipping the item well packaged and we will refund the cost of the return label up to a maximum of USD 17 (which is the cost calculated by ebay based on the weight, volume and dimensions of the package).” What “current political situation in Europe”, may I ask! 🤔 I’ve checked the price for sending it from Mexico and the cheapest quote was about €55!!! So the $17 US dollars they’re willing to refund are laughable! I’ve just asked them for a 50% partial refund (not the ridiculous $10 dollars they’re offering) but they might not answer until monday and, I sincerely doubt they’ll agree. If needed I’m ready to ask for eBay’s help, to have a full refund (including full shipping charges from Mexico). What do you think? What would you guys do? Should I settle for the meager $10 dollar partial refund? Should I send it back having to pay about $40 non refundable dollars for shipping? Should I ask eBay to step in? One more thing. If I settle for a partial refund and keep the model. Do you think that there’s something than can be done with the backward facing handles? HELP! 😬 |

There are return shipping labels, that's nonsense. I'd try to get a better refund and just keep it.

Like Tom I would see if they would sweeten the refund, at least by the amount of return shipping? I think mass shippers forget that most of us don't have special rates from carriers like they do. Their shipping charge to the USA for a single 1/43 is €13.85. I can't ship to Italy for that.
On the door handles. If you can't live with them as is, I would try moving them (gently, very, very gently) with a pair of tweezers. If you get any resistance, stop unless you are prepared to glue them on the right way (which is what you may have to do anyway).

Assume they should be facing forward?
Do they have a single point of attachment?
As per Jerry i'd first try simply moving them with tweezers but for me i'd probably remove them and re-glue them

I’ll wait to see if they offer a better much refund and, if they do I also think that I’ll keep it. I was reading the help section at eBay yesterday, and listed among the reasons to ask eBay to intervene is the refusal of the seller to send a return label! I’m sure that they offered $17 dollars maximum for shipping assuming that it costs the same for me to ship the model from Mexico! The thing that worries me more about removing on purpose, or by accident, the handles is damaging the wood effect of the paint. Assume they should be facing forward? And yes, they’re attached on one side only. Remove them by gently trying to move them with tweezers? Or is there something (some kind of liquid, maybe) to apply in order to remove them? |

No liquid that i can think of that wont damage the paint. Yes just see if you gently rock them whether they will move. Depends on what glue was used to attach them in the first place as to the likelihood of them moving under a little pressure.

Should be possible to do something with it, dependent on how steady you can be. I was able to take a model that arrived like this:   and get it back to this position:  Even if you had to try and snap the handle at the base, it could be touched in - it's a small scale so it would likely not be noticeable if you can do it with precision. You might be able to get more than $10 back and that would seem the best option to take personally. |

You're not having much luck of late Julio. Have you thought about going direct to Matrix rather than to Mondo...after all its Matrix's assembly and quality control that's the problem.

Have seen lately more and more this type of unbelievable assembly mistakes. As a Knight Rider fan I've seen lately YM Model 1/64 resin KITT models at ebay, and reviews, which at first glance looks nice, but closer inspection reveals stupid mistakes, like the "gullwing" steering "yoke" being upside down and interior doorpanels installed forcefully backwards = because '82 Trans-Am door cards don't naturally fit the wrong way, they've made them fit by cutting them where necessary, so they've actually done extra work to install them wrong  |
