For the 1966 season and facing a growing menace from Ford, Ferrari released a new model – the 330 P3. It had several youth problems, and Ford won the Sports Car Championship that year. For 1967 season the P3 was improved, and the result was the new 330 P4 / 412P. Four P4's for official scuderia SEFAC, and four 412P's for customers. Externally P4 and 412P are similar, and shared the same four liter engine. P4's power output was slighly superior to 412P's. Three or four P3 chassis and bodies were converted to P4 and 412P, so no longer exists the P3 body configuration, with bigger headlight boxes in front (1) By late 1980s / early 1990s, I tried an upgrade on this Brumm P4 with this result. Recent 30 million dollar sell last August of an original 412P inspired me to re-work this, and make this very significant car look better. Brumm clearly aimed to the collector's market with very interesting models. This one is quite good in many aspects, including a fine interior. Red plate between seats and engine was the only thing I had to add. The headlighs boxes were too smal, I had to enlarge them to put 2 lights in each (3) One important step: Use filler to get the shape that will be the mold to warm transparent plastic to make the headlight covers. Always apply a good layer of matt red, to improve final result of the paint. Home made decals didn't turned out so good this time. “Scuderia Filipinetti” white letters are no good, must order some eventually from LeMans Decals... And semi-final result of this work.

That is a proper transformation of a car that I love, as a boy I had the Polistil version of this. Your work is amazing.

A car I always thought was deserving of better models. The standard Brumm were quite average with poor wheels and decals, while the Bang versions always suffered from the casting joint that ran through the middle of the side panel which was not only ugly, it would always result in the decal for the race number being torn.
Congrats on making your upgraded model. It’s one I hope Looksmart make one day that I can add to my Filipinetti collection.

Great upgrade as ever, wish I had your talent! Thanks, I'm considering doing some workshops online about using thin files, filler molding , and loosing brush fright...

True, Brumm always lacked the accuracy and perfection of more recent models from Spark, Looksmart or Minichamps

Kudos, you've done a very nice job of turning a sow's ear into a silk purse. The BRUMM versions of the 330 P4s were, to put it mildly, not amongst their best efforts. I'll be the first to give credit where credit is due and for the money some of their GP Ferraris, most notably the 1970 312B and 1981 126Ck in addition to the 1971 312PB prototypes, were pretty darn good. If you can find one, IMHO. the finest 330P4s are the MAKEUP EIDOLON versions. Not for the faint of heart price wise, but well worth the money spent. I have the 1967 Daytona winning cars and they are stunning.

Very nice work. I am with Ian, a car that I wish was available in a better model for my Filipinetti Wing. Beyond my skill level.

DMH/SCM also did top notch versions of the 330 P4.
