A while back I picked a slightly beaten up Atlas E30 M3, the Will Hoy 1991 BTCC championship version, to take the wheels for another model. I was going to throw the rest away but thought, might as well keep it to make something of it at some point. It's pretty much finished now with a few minor finishing touches to be added, so wanted to share a few build pictures and a couple of comparison pictures next to the original model. After this picture, the splitter was removed following realising that it should be black, so could be painted separately. I also did some masking and sprayed the yellow and red stripes below the front bumper as it wouldn't really work to use the supplied decals here. Also polished up the paintwork with some Tamiya compounds to make it look a little better. The Laguna will be worked on later to be a 1995 BTCC Alain Menu car. Initial decals added. A few more decals down the side.

All decals supplied on the sheet now added, prior to putting the wheels on. Comparison with the standard Atlas E30 after adding the wheels and some other details. I had to take the base out and cut out the wheel arches as the wheels would not sit properly otherwise and the whole car looked like it was on stilts. Needs a few custom decals on the front bumper (indicators and one more decal that was not on the sheet I bought), along with a yellow cylindrical shape that appears on the roof, which I'm not sure what it's for. Happy with the result overall and it was worth keeping the old model around.

That looks great! Love the attention to the stance, it's what makes the model realistic.

Great conversion, I envy your talent. I do have the Hoy car as I subscribed to that Atlas series, sadly they lost interest before making the Frank Gardner '67 winning 1964 Falcon and 1973 Camaro.

Thanks everyone - made up a few custom decals for the front. Had to make the EWS in MS paint as I couldn't find the logo online. Could not work out what it said underneath the letters either but the text is so small I just made up a company name as you can't read it anyway It now just needs the yellow part that's on the top - not sure how to go about that but will find something suitable.
