With some time on my hands and not many new additions to consider at the moment it's an opportunity to record another part of my Collection. Like many of us, the race I look forward to the most each year is the 24 Hours of Le Mans and I have posted my LM Collection in a separate thread. Being a motorsport nut, sportscars have a particular attraction for me, especially when you consider the classic races they have been a part of - the Targa Florio, the Mille Miglia, the Tour de France Auto, and the ones that are still with us at tracks such as Monza, Daytona, the Nurburgring, and Sebring amongst many others. The Targa Florio and the Mille Miglia may even rank higher than Le Mans for me, but alas their time has well and truly passed us by. As is to be expected this part of my Collection has a very red tinge to it (what else did you expect ), very much influenced by the fact that my favourite marques have been regular and successful participants in these types of races. So here goes - starting with the earliest racing sportscar model I have, from 1923. 1923PW - Alfa Romeo Sport Collection Alfa Romeo RL TF 3.0 #13 Alfa Corse - Ugo Sivocci 1923 Targa Florio - Winner

This entry from 1938 rounds out the 1930s, before some world event curtailed most racing. This model was purchased from a certain person we know as "jager" way back in 2012, before I was aware of this Forum or of the man Ian himself! 1938Brumm - Mille Miglia Series Alfa Romeo 2900 B Spider MM Touring 3.0s/c #143 Alfa Corse - Clemente Biondetti & Aldo Stefani 1938 Mille Miglia - Winner

Thanks Tom. You arent helping me limit my MM and TF collections to post 1950s….. Sorry about that Paul! Your MM & TF sub-theme is one of my favourite places to visit around here. I would love to go crazy on these races, with teh variety of cars they contain, but the old issue of funds and space rear their ugly heads!!

With the War putting a halt to racing activities until later in the decade, it wasn't until 1947 that motor racing started to return to normal with the major pre-War events starting up again.
