I've just read that the Mullin Museum is closing next month, following Peter Mullin's death this past fall.. Sad news to see one of the premier auto museums closing its doors. Many of us have models of some of the great cars in the museum, notably the IXO series. I would guess the collection will be auctioned off. www.hemmings.com/stories/californias-mullin-automotive-museum-closing/

I was in shock when I read about this last night.. I still have very fond memories of my visit several years ago, it was a magnificent place and not only having in mind the collection items, but the presentation and overall arrangement. One of the best car-related experiences I ever had.

Sad news indeed though I'm sure these very special cars will find equally magnificent new homes.

Sad news indeed though I'm sure these very special cars will find equally magnificent new homes. A few have been donated to the Petersen Museum in LA. The rest eventually to well heeled lovers of French design. Lucky ba$tards! 😄

The rest eventually to well heeled lovers of French design. Lucky ba$tards! 😄 That's the thing - there aren't that many well equipped museums open to public, are there? I feel that most of those gems will settle in private collections forever.. Unless Petersen buys something else besides those 4 donated masterpieces.

I might be wrong, but there was also the possibility that Mullin was planning to open a UK museum in the Midlands and a road leisure experience if memory serves me correctly.
I have always enjoyed seeing some of their magnificent exhibits being used at UK prestige classic car shows, and usually driven/accompanied by PM and his wife.

Indeed they were designing and planning to build the whole complex but it seems this project is also shut down.
