Just discovered this post by Jager from 2013 as I was perusing the site to get an idea of it’s history. It’s pretty much an upside down reflection of my own collection (103 cars and counting). I’m looking forward to going through the cars and seeing what I’ve missed! Pity the photo is a bit blurry. The Bonhams link still works. Watch this space. My Collection from about three months ago. Must update it.

I’ve found at least one car in the Bonhams sale that I need to get. 4th row down, 5th car from the left, #23. Standard 10 Oulton Park 1955. A loaned car, not his own tweaked standard 8. This model is apparently in the Haynes Museum Sparkford, possibly by Pathfinder, and is the same, or similar to, the one in the sale. But the one raced was obviously two tone painted with a dark colour over a lighter one. This confuses the situation even further! Maybe CDM has some ideas. In any case the only donor on eBay just now is £300+!

I’ll check that out when I get it Tom. Meanwhile…..Chris and I had thought that the car had a two tone paint finish however the ever helpful Mark at GP Models came up with this whilst we were on the phone about suitable wheels sans hubcaps as per the Oulton race. Might be the exact same green as the model! Certainly not two tone.

Not sure on that Chris since the chart says only used after 1963 More photos of the 1955 MC cars This one is the Moss Oulton car They are all quite a dark BRG so I’m inclined to go for the BRG on the top row since that was current from 1953 and is pretty dark. The chart code is 25099 which is a Martin Senour colour. Equivalents are….. DuPont 83734 ICI. 2855 My local guru Griff will do a trial chip for me.

The Pathfinder model arrived today. A nice model if very expensive! Bearing in mind Tom’s advice about the size I measured the wheelbase to be about 85 inches 1:1, then checked online- 84 inches. So happy with that. Got the paint from Griff and wheels from K&R. Here we go. Need also to order the reg plates and GB plate.

Oulton Standard 10It came apart really nicely. Especially glad that the windows popped out easily. Also the chrome bits and the headlights. Might look to upgrade the headlights but they’re actually not bad. As Chris says the chrome side strips will take a bit of work to remove neatly. The new wheels by K&R are on the right. The seats will go back in as is, red with BRG will look good. Any suggestions are welcomed. Into paint stripper next, it’s so easy with diecast.

Paint stripped, need to remove the side strips before undercoating. This is the stripper I used, works fine.

Looking to upgrade as usual and thinking of Matrix 300 SLRs I checked out what I already have and found this one in my National Heroes collection. MINICHAMPS, and a good one. Moved it into the Moss collection to replace the Plumbies sellfbuilt model. Still tempted to get the Matrix Dundrod car!

Whilst looking to upgrade I looked at the Matrix MM car. Why the tonneau cover!!? Windscreen is better and cockpit air intakes also.

Whilst browsing as usual for 1/43 Moss cars I came across this one. Initially I thought that it was Carlsson and Pat Moss, his wife, but turns out that it was Stirling himself who unsuccessfully shared the car in the 1965 Safari rally. Do I add it to the collection? Question is, did he actually drive it at all, or was he only the navigator? Any ideas? I have included the Austin Healey he drove in the 1991 Pirelli Classic Rally in the collection but was thinking of removing that one anyway to free up valuable cabinet space. A part of my thinking is that the collection should end with that fateful 1962 Goodwood drive rather than include later excursions into Classic rallies, DTM and historic racing. However it is a nice Trofeu model!
