Now that the non-numbered vehicles are out of the way, the next collection thread will be Touring Cars, or Saloon Cars if you prefer. Motorsport fans growing up in Australia are fed a constant diet of "tin-tops", so you can't help but have some interest in them. However, being an "Alfaholic" this thread is going to be chock full of the cars from Milano, as touring car racing has been on and off their agenda for many decades - the DTM cars alone will take up a fair bit of space, seeing as they are still my favourite racers of all time. While being Alfa-heavy, there will be some local content for variety. When deciding on what cars to post in this thread I have come to the conclusion that the race or series will take precedence. As an example, if a Giulia Sprint GTA raced in the European Touring car Championship it is in, but if the model is of a GTA from the Targa Florio it will appear in a different thread at a later date. Enough waffle, it's on with the models. 1963M4 - Alfa Romeo Una Storia ItalianaAlfa Romeo 2600 106 Sprint 2.6 Elio Zagato1963 Monza1964AutoArt - Motor Racing LegendsHolden FJ Special 2.2Dick Johnson Racing - Dick Johnson1964 Lakeside - Dick Johnson's First Race1966 PW - Alfa Romeo Sport Collection Alfa Romeo 105 Giulia Sprint GTA 1600 Autodelta - Andrea de Adamich & Teodoro Zeccoli 1966 ETCC Rd 1, Monza 4 Hours - 1st

While the Alfas are exceptional, the Holden is of particular interest to me. I've never seen one.

Very nice, I love saloon car racing. I do have a couple of the Alfas and quite a few Escorts. I've even got some a shelf or two of Aussie racing saloons including some humpy Holdens but have never seen the Dick Johnson version. When I went to Bathurst in 2004 I saw him in the paddock and asked if he would sign the model of his green Falcon that I had bought a few days earlier which he happily did. He asked me where I was from, told him London and I had come to the race to celebrate my 50th birthday which got the classic Aussie response 'good on yer mate'.

While the Alfas are exceptional, the Holden is of particular interest to me. I've never seen one. These "humpy" Holdens were the mainstay of the racing scene over here through the 1950s and into the 1960s Jerry. Even though this model is from a race in 1964, the car itself dates from around 1953. They might have been designed as rugged transportation for Australia's less than average road system in the 1950s, with a dependable but unspectacular 6-cylinder engine, but that didn't stop many people developing go-faster bits for them. Sadly we don't see too many of them in historic racing today. That is quite the collection already. Many that I really like- thanks for giving us a new look at your collection! Thanks for taking teh time to look through these threads Tom. It's been something I've been thinking about doing for a while, and the slowing down of new additions has given me the time to do it. All are wonderful but the Holden really stands out for me. But it is a GM product Jeff, and maybe even more so than in the US the blue vs red divide is greater. Very nice, I love saloon car racing. Growing up in Queensland and being a Fordie, Tricky Dicky was my hero when I was a younger lad. I had many interactions with him in the '80s and he was always approachable. I still have a Dick Johnson Racing jacket from the '80s in a drawer somewhere. I'm sure I I suck everything in and pour a bottle of olive oil over me, I might be able to squeeze into it.

Once again, intrigued by the Australian Fords, but that Alfa Berlina takes the cake for me!

Ah more goodness, there are more of those Alfa GtaM's than I realised, I shall be keeping an eye out for those. I wish I had more of the Falcons and Holdens too. I do have that Brumm Fiat Abarth though, got a few of them.

Of course the GTA's but #21 is pretty cool. I think the #21 Alfetta is reasonably rare Jeff, so I was happy to find it. Being from the same end of the globe, the Falcons and LJ appeal over the others. There's plenty of memories there for sure Lars. Whilst I like the Aussie racers, it's the Italian ones that get me all giddy. That's where I am at these days Tom, but a falcon Hardtop will still make me go weak at the knees. Not a single duff one in that line up Thanks Paul, I tend to agree The tiny Fiats look extremely cool! If I was't so Alfa-focussed thes edays Julio, I would probably add more of the baby Fiats. They do bring a smile to your face and I love to see them buzzing around in historic hillclimb events on YouTube these days. Once again, intrigued by the Australian Fords, but that Alfa Berlina takes the cake for me! It is a bit of a special one for me as well Jerry. I would like its red sister as well. Ah more goodness, there are more of those Alfa Gtam's than I realised, I shall be keeping an eye out for those. I wish I had more of the Falcons and Holdens too. I do have that Brumm Fiat Abarth though, got a few of them. There's still a few of those M$-type GTAs/GTAms that I need to track down Paul. I do have a couple more, but they will appear in a different thread later on. When it comes to the local cars, my focus is on the Fords so I only have a few Holdens. When is comes to 1:64 though, it is a much more closer balance.
