Cutting the window panes and drilling 0.4mm holes at the bottom edge for the wipers Completing the window panes with the frames took a whole day...
Mounting (most) parts of the side trim. Forgot to make enough of the tiny hood latches. Then starting one of the most exaggerating works of this project: mounting the windshields! These roadsters require a - let's say - hilarious construction of the windshield, I'm definitely unable to explain the difficulties in English, sorry. However, I've lost my hair, but the windshield is finally fixed! Not exactly what I wanted, but I'm satisfied in a way... For the red one, the works were even worse as I had no side windows to fix the windshield... As you can see, the searching lights are mounted, as well. Heading the last very difficult work (hopefully!): making the foglights for the front fenders. These two p/e parts are to be punched and soldered together, and then... ...fixed to the front wings (after being polished and varnished, as solder gets dull within a few hours). The second pair of searching lights. So I guess it could only take another few months until I can finish this project A few months? It seems to be quite finished. And already beautiful.

Looking fabulous, as usual!!! 🖤 Well, the dreamcars of that era, I would say! Short before WWII, the German car makers presented dreams on wheels, never seen before...
These beauties look so fantastic! When building such a model, I always try to recreate as many details as possible, not only for "making of", but also to learn how they designed a car back then. This Horch Spezial Roadster looks so clean and modern, but now I know how unbelievable many details this design includes, which finally lead to the overall impression.
Fantastic creations! Your interior detailing gets better with every model. ...thank you! And this time - as both cars stay open - we can see all details also when the models are completed. Great, isn't it
...at least it looks like, but thank you very much for your kind words!
countach53: Well, the last works still took a while, but you're right, we can see the light at the end of the tunnel!
The last p/e parts. Making this film took four or five days, and of course I finally forgot some parts, but luckily I had some spares from the recent Horch projects...
For several reasons I decided to make completely new taillights from scratch. The original ones (top left) could not be used. I made some "navettes" by p/e, and soldered some 1.5mm brass tube onto.
Here's the result.
The one with the long hood indeed sported a dickie seat (mother-in-law-seat in German ), although I always wonder how anyone would get into this seat. Must had been quite an acrobatic, I guess...
And a week later, dozens and hundreds of tiniest parts of the size of a grain of sand later, both roadsters are - - - READY! Sorry, but I can't believe it... I've never needed such a long time before making a couple of model cars, and I'm not sure why it took such a long time.
I love this one very much, as the original car had disappeared, although (after some research) I'm pretty sure that it still exists...
Cars for for a happy few, back then in great times...

The finished result is simply stunning! So much fine detail and masterful work have gone into these products. I am amazed constantly at what you can achieve in this scale. Thank you for sharing. I see new details everytime I look at these images, but you have also made me appreciate even more the time, effort and dedication as you walked us through the build. You are the master, I know of no one better!

I'm not so sure. I think you should send them to me for further inspection of the details. It shouldn't take too long for me to check them out. Then I'll send them right back. Trust me.

I see new details everytime I look at these images, but you have also made me appreciate even more the time, effort and dedication as you walked us through the build. You are the master, I know of no one better! I'm blushing only when reading , thank you for your kind words! I'm sure that I am no master, only doing what I'm able to do. It's still fun to share this with you here, especially in Germany (or anywhere else?) model-building is considered a children's play and adult men doing so as something between "flora & fauna". So feel invited, the next project is ready to take off, and perhaps I'll build some further nice model cars!
Epic job!!! Absolutely gorgeous looking models! 🖤 Thank you so much! Especially the violet one represents a "lost car", and so I hope this is going to live on, at least in this scale.
"Blood, sweat and tears", to say it with Churchill's words These two models were continuing "hard works": as soon as I've accomplished one terrible challenge, the next one was up to be done, without any "normal" works. I guess I need some relaxation with "simple" models...
I'm not so sure. I think you should send them to me for further inspection of the details. It shouldn't take too long for me to check them out. Then I'll send them right back. Trust me.
And now some impressions of the finished models, if you like:
These cars had indeed "perspex" rear licence plates which were illuminated from behind.
The role model for this one was the show car at the IAMA 1938. Only five or six cars of this particular type had been produced, and only this show car featured many special details, like the two-tone painting (including pinstripes around fenders and trim which I could not re-create), "trumpet" signal horns, spare cover, radio and other things.
The "first half" of my Horch project.
That's all for now! I'm still not experienced in photographing my large diorama, and I'm sure that I need some further equipment such as lighting, statives and so on. But I promise, I'm working for that...!

As usual, your final pictures are very enjoyable to go over. It's impressive to see how every new model is a challenge to take things to the next level.
It's easy to see why you are so attracted to cars of this era. The early days of 'stagecoach minus horses' were over, the boundaries of technology had advanced enough so that the cars had some real performance and the makers could concentrate on making the best, fastest, most luxurious and most appealing cars. The flowing lines of this era are very satisfying and I guess research makes up part of the fun too- more of a challenge in the days before everything was photographed in colour.

The purple one looks absolutely fantastic, by far my favourite of these two, and undoubtedly better than both my Minichamps versions!
Didn't Hermann Göring have one of those Horchs?

It's hard to believe there was a period of such elegance and style on our planet. Jean, you have opened a picture of pure character. A very enjoyable thread to read and to witness your creations of beauty. Thank you.
