Argo Racing Cars was formed in the late 70s to develop open wheel cars for Formula 3, Vee, Atlantic & Ford however they would in the early 80s branch out into sports prototypes for both IMSA and the World Sportscar championship with JM16 or which 7 were built. 1985 would see the introduction of the JM19 for the C2 class and this would be developed over the next 5 years with 3 further iterations which were the JM19B, C & D and in all 19 chassis were built. Argo debuted at Le Mans in 1986 with a JM19 run by Martin Schanche's Lucky Strike team in the C2 class managing a lap in the process, and he would return in 1987 with the car in B spec along with another JM19, neither of which would finish. 1988 would see 3 cars all in C spec but now all with 3.3 litre Cosworth power, one of which was entered by PC Automotive for the driving trio of Olindo Iacobelli, Alain Ianette & John Graham who would qualify 49th. They had a good start gaining 12 places in the first hour and by six hours in they were 31st, and they would reach a high point of 30th in the next hour, but then they ran into electrical issues which would see them fall away and whilst they made it to the halfway point in 35th shortly thereafter they were parked up and out with a flat battery after 130 laps.

Very nice Argo, a name that is probably a bit forgotten now. Bad luck with the electrical problems, I've noticed that this is a common reason for retiring the car. Could be a new collecting theme couldn't it? Or not.

More proof, if any was needed, that LM and sportscar racing throws up the most interesting bunch of racers than any other branch of the sport.

Doesn't it just Cool looking model! That it is sir Very nice Argo, a name that is probably a bit forgotten now. Bad luck with the electrical problems, I've noticed that this is a common reason for retiring the car. Could be a new collecting theme couldn't it? Or not. Yes one perhaps for the LM die hards as they long ago packed up shop. It is a common retirement theme that afflicts mainly Italian and British cars for some reason. Perhaps it because it never rains in either country More proof, if any was needed, that LM and sportscar racing throws up the most interesting bunch of racers than any other branch of the sport. Very much so but not only that the most interesting variety of cars too.

Michel Dupont's Chevron has already graced this thread twice in its Le Mans iterations for 1973 as a B23 and 1974 as a B23/26 where it failed to finish both times. It was also however raced extensively across both seasons in the World Championship for Makes scoring a class win and a couple of podiums in the process in 1973 as a B23 before being converted to 23/26 for 1974. May 1974 would see the car at the Spa 1000km with the driver pairing of Michel Dupont and Laurent Ferrier who would qualify 8th and start 7th but would not make it to the finish due to an accident.

I'm assuming the guy who painted the car got the sack for using the wrong colour - a red Jagermeister car?

A great-looking can ánd Jägermeister livery? Sign me on! Exactly my thought process No surprise to see this appear in your collection Andy. Your Jager collection goes from strength to strength. Absolutely, no surprise at all. It's getting fairly sizeable now and i think pretty comprehensive I'm assuming the guy who painted the car got the sack for using the wrong colour - a red Jagermeister car? I think they just applied the logos over the existing paint as it ran in red in races either side of this one. Funny thing is i found a photo of it competing at Spa and its a very dark orange but the photo is from 74 Multiple box ticker for you Andy. That looks fab. Very much so. Covers all the bases. Only thing that could be more on point is if it were a UrQ
