Prototipo Ford Let's go forward and put some glamour. Towards the end of the sixties, the regulations kept on updating clauses, and the designs started to grow taking advantage of the impresisions of the specifications stated in the regulations. To put in other words, the cars started to change as well, exploring aerodynamics in the limit of the new allowed specifications. Here it begins my favorite part. As you can see, this is a complete different car, at least from the "outside" point of view. This car had no name, it was simply known as the "Prototipo Ford", this was 1967. There were two units built, and both were destroyed in terrible accidents in the first races, terrible fire burnt cars and lifes as well. Terrific end for such an promising aventure. The model is built based on a partwork model, which is the next on the list. Sorry for imprecisions, it was one of my first work with my own made decals. Lights were a problem too, remember it is 1/43. In photo below, the grey part is made of wood, the orange comes from the partwork. To be continued... Gaucho Man

First off, as Ian said, a lot of this group has been together for over a decade so we love seeing and hearing a new member and a new voice. Post when you can and when you feel like it. We are here for the long term so taking your time is fine.
Love the Falcon, outrageous production based cars are among my favorits.
Great work on the last one, I admire anyone that can do this type of work.

You built that yourself? Wow. Let me explain you: I was working on a 100% wood model of the Prototipo Ford (the blue model), but then I got the "orange" model that you see in the photo. Thus, I made the mixture. Next post you will understand the relation between the orange and the blue cars. Well done on your first build. Thank you a lot! Great work on the last one, I admire anyone that can do this type of work. Thanks for your words. The fast back Falcon was made on the basis of a Falcon that had been killed to make a Ranchero. The Ranchero was never made and the gut body finished in my hands. Unfortunately, the basis Buby model was not much accurate. And unfortunately, the partwork Falcon came a couple of weeks after I had finished the work on the Buby. Now I am posting your favorite Orange Trueno.

Trueno Naranja (dedicated to Mr. Opie) Remember the Prototipo Ford (post inmediate before this one), I mentioned two units produced and destroyed in terrible accidents, with also a terrible result in human lives. As a result of this situation, the main sponsor Ford decided to quit from the project. However, the maker of the car still had one unit in process. One car being built and noone to sell it. Here appears a racer named Carlos Pairetti, who was looking for a new car. He interested on the car, asked for some changes and bought it. The changes were a Chevrolet engine (instead of Ford), only one central gas tank (instead of two lateral ones) and a spoiler in the back of the car. It is said that the car was ended just the night before the presentation day, just to realize it was not painted yet. There were only a couple of orange and white paint so they did as best as possible. The official name was Fast Chevrolet, but as soon as started to race, everybody named it as Trueno Naranja (Orange Thunder). The car won the 1967 championship and entered into the legend. Today, most of the people consider it the most beautiful car of our history, and whenever they see an orange car they shout "Trueno Naranja!" This is the Trueno from partwork, however, there are other models to come. (this orange model was the basis to reproduce the blue Prototipo Ford, I only had to change the front part, the wheels and delete the rear spoiler) That's All Folks! Gaucho Man

What a lovely shape, can understand the national acclaim in your homeland. Tom mentioned Viper, I see a bit of Marcos in the form too.

Favorite indeed. Like Brooks said, I can see some Marcos to the shape.

I have a bit of a 'thing' for orange cars, so like that a lot. It looks to be very good quality for a partworks model and probably very good value.

Thank you a lot! I am sincerely surprised by the feed back on this model. It seems it has really something special! Viper-like shape, love it! May be, you have a clincal eye. I also found is suspiciously similar to the Rayo McQueen, althouth the Pixar car was created several years before. Quite nice and interesting! Thank you a lot! Take note: there were three Truenos: in Orange, in Gold and in White. The Gold one "named Trueno Dorado" will appear soon. What a lovely shape, can understand the national acclaim in your homeland. Tom mentioned Viper, I see a bit of Marcos in the form too. Favorite indeed. Like Brooks said, I can see some Marcos to the shape. Marcos, good comparisson, specially for the rear aspect. Later, this car was used to run in another class named Sport Prototipo, so the owner cut the roof. A very sad end for a legend! I have a bit of a 'thing' for orange cars, so like that a lot. It looks to be very good quality for a partworks model and probably very good value. I get you! In a world full of red cars, the orange color is a nice alternative, not much seen (except the Jägermeister cars!) Talking about quality, I can assure a very good quality/price ratio. Anyway, considering there are no diecast reprodutions of the Trueno, I would buy whatever seemed alike, even with bad quality or high price! Thank you a lot for the likes and comments! I will soon revert with the end of the Trueno and a brother car, with the same shape but different specifications. Gaucho Man

Liebre III (TC) This car was built circa 1969 by the same maker that designed the Liebre II (you can see it in the thread, post dated 21mar23). There were several units built, equiped with different engines, at request of customer. Moreover, this car was acceptable to race in different classes with little changes. I will revert later on this point. The model is partwork. As usual, sorry for bad photos! That's All Folks! Gaucho Man

The Argentinean Breadvan! Yet another very distinctive racer, you can’t mistake these for anything else. Thanks for the history lessons, like this a lot too.
