Thanks Paul. We don’t get Sky here, but no doubt one of the other streaming services will show it. I’ve put your You-tube link in my calendar on the 26th as a reminder.

Seems to be more common in the British Isles, but I have seen bottles of 'Nonesuch' here per my quick research. I think I have woken up hungry today, ahahaha!

Come out here BB, mince is a tradition at Thanksgiving and Christmas. Venison is the preferred meat. 😀

Lots of deer hunting in these parts, yet I've never had the nerve to try it. The extent of my game cuisine was duck claimed by my Grandfather who was and avid duck hunter. And that was over 40 years ago...

And that was over 40 years ago... I may be wrong but I think Paul may have been referring to a fruit mince pie BB, a traditional Christmas treat in the UK and also over our way. A small pie made with dried fruit; sultanas, raisins, mixed peel, etc., and maybe a drop of brandy. Now, if we want to talk about "meat" mince pies, you need to come over our way as Australia is the home of this delight. Even the small town I live in has several bakeries that specialise in meat pies. Whenever I mention the name of the place where I live, the usual first response is "oh yeah, great pies". On a busy weekend summer's day, if you walk down our main street all you can smell is meat pies and tomato sauce!!

As Martin says the mince pie is sweet these days. Not sure when it switched over from mincemeat as it was traditionally Personally i like the iced ones, the puff pastry ones, the lattice ones, the shortcrust pastry ones and the homemade ones. Don't think i've missed any

I have to laugh out loud reading this. Paul started this thread............Movies, Ferrari and Mille Miglia and Sky TV. We are currently still on page one but the subject has now moved very swiftly to "Mince Pies" Astounding I do feel a tad responsible though

There are worse things to be responsible for Paul. I should clarify that mince pies here are made with both fruit and mince meat which is like the fruit version, only with lamb, mutton or venison added. Mince meat with venison being the preferred protein in our neck of the woods. Mock mince meat uses beef. I bet you were all dying to know that.

I think I share some of the blame too
Just look at all the crust and serving variations Andy mentioned...
Either way, savory or sweet, these pies sound intoxicating. Maybe this is a first sign of seasonal spirit? I'd bet more than a few demo recipes exist on youtube. By the descriptions, I'd guess these little pies really fill the air with allure well down the street...
