An interesting episode….. Being of Scottish descent my second collection after Ferrari F1 was Scottish Drivers which featured the likes of Stewart, Coulthard, Ireland, Ecurie Ecosse Le Mans winners, Flockhart, Dumfries, Cleland, McRae, Franchitti, and obviously Jim Clark. I had started selling off this collection to finance new collections and upgrades to existing ones when I decided to concentrate on building up a quality Jim Clark collection. More about this collection will be posted in future. One of the first steps was to get a good Lotus 25 to replace the Quartzo/RBA models so I purchased the item below. Imagine my surprise when I collected a larger than usual package from the click and collect store and opened it at home. It was in fact 1/18 scale. I contacted the seller who knew nothing about scale models and thought it was 1/43. He hadn’t even opened the package to photograph it. I thought about returning it but since it had come quite cheaply have hung on to it up until now. I thought then about keeping it but with nowhere suitable to display it and no other 1/18 models I have decided to put it on eBay where they have been fetching good money. However if any member is interested it’s available for £110 with postage at cost.

Interesting that the Spark box makes no mention of the scale. That said, even though the seller didn't know the scale, they did include the product code "18SO38" in the listing description which identifies it as a 1:18 model. Still, you made some quick money on it, so hopefully you can put that towards a proper 1:43.

It's a fantastic model. If it wasn't for the room it takes...

This is an upgrade. I have an Onyx model of Mansell's 1992 winner that I've tweaked a bit (mirrors, graphics, camera) but this Minichamps reissue was too good to pass up. It comes with Camel decals, which sealed the deal for me. The graphics on the helmet are outstanding.

I also upgraded from an Onyx model last year but with a more expensive option than Alex used. The two models are are shown below.

I have the Onyx looking OK. I added mirrors from a Hella kit and fabricated a camera.
