The Serenissima Spyder is one of those cars that's been on my model wishlist for over a decade. I wonder if its appearance now has anything to do with the real car's reappearance in 2019?

Boy, that is really a great looking car. Sure is. Shades of Ferrari 250LM I'd say The best-looking car I'd never heard of. Thanks for the education! Perhaps no surprise as its really rather obscure. I only knew about it from reading the Le Mans Official history series That’s quite a nice looking model! Quite! Whats the Italian for Sacre Bleu! What a graceful design. Strong hints of Ferrari of course. Almost surprised it didn't sell for even more in 2019! Post-pandemic inflation has probably driven that number up... Very graceful and as above there is a lot of 250LM in there. Would not be surprised if it's now worth a lot more The best-looking car I'd never heard of. Thanks for the education! Couldn’t put it better myself See above The Serenissima Spyder is one of those cars that's been on my model wishlist for over a decade. I wonder if its appearance now has anything to do with the real car's reappearance in 2019? I suspect it is. Otherwise a stunning coincidence Got to hand it to Spark as there is no other use at all for this mold

After a year away from Le Mans, Charles Deutsch returned with his new design the CD3, which in order to meet the minimum engine size had it's 848cc Panhard motor supercharged so that with the 1.4 equivalence it was above the 1 litre threshold. Made of fibreglass and extremely aerodynamic, the little CD3 would reach 137 mph on the Mulsanne and two were entered, with the No.45 car being driven by Pierre Lelong & Guy Verrier who would qualify it plumb last in 55th. The pair essentially bumped along at the back of the field gaining places through attrition reaching 41st by 6 hours in and 30th by the halfway point but shortly after that after 124 laps the gearbox gave up ending their race.

A wingless plane... has to be French, doesn't it? That is on my list now. Love it.

Despite looking like some sort of character from the “CARS” movies, this is high on my wish list too and have had it on pre-order for a while. That said, I'm not convinced the paintwork should be matte ... this picture of the sister car might be B&W but clearly shows the cars had a gloss finish?

Pioneers of the matte paint craze? I feel that could be an error here Despite looking like some sort of character from the “CARS” movies, this is high on my wish list too and have had it on pre-order for a while. That said, I'm not convinced the paintwork should be matte ... this picture of the sister car might be B&W but clearly shows the cars had a gloss finish?
I'd agree it should be gloss. 45 is next to it and that has a shine too It screams French. Bonkers. Can't be anything else That is all kinds of wonderful. It is that, perhaps except the finish Jason and The Argonauts comes to mind! That, and CARS

Porsche came to Le Mans in 1960 with three of their new RS60 variants of the 718 which had been developed to meet the FIA changes on cockpit and windscreen size but now also had double wishbone suspension at the rear and a new 160hp 1.6 litre engine. Porsche knew that the car would not be fast enough on the straights so developed a special 1606cc 180hp engine which was fitted to two of the cars that put them in the 2 litre category, one of which was allocated to Jo Bonnier & Graham Hill both fresh from their outright and class wins respectively at the Targa Florio. The pair were delayed badly at the start and were to be found in 54th for the first 2 hours, but then they began to climb through the field so by 6 hours in they were in 30th and by half distance they were in 15th. They would gain one further place in the 14th hour and they would remain in this position until their engine expired in the 18th hour after 191 laps.
